I think its kinda wild that Paul Biya is basically just a figurehead at this point, you know? He's like a perpetual president, but he's not really doing any of the heavy lifting. Its like, how do people in Cameroon even get excited about voting if they know its just gonna be more of the same old thing? And whats up with all these extended stays abroad? Isnt he like, supposed to be living among the ppl or something? I mean, Tchiroma had some real momentum going on before Biya stole the show again. Its like, what even is the point of having a democratic system if you just end up with another dictator in disguise?
I feel kinda like this is a whole thing we've all seen before... another president who just kind of shows up and stays, no matter what. 92 years old, still got the job? I mean, I know people love Biya or whatever, but can't he see that things are changing? The youth in Cameroon aren't exactly vibin' with his style of governance. It's like he's stuck in a time warp and just not getting it anymore. Tchiroma was supposed to be the alternative, but now it seems like we're just back to square one... I'm guessing Biya won't be looking to retire anytime soon, given his age
i mean imagine having a president for like 43 years, that's crazy lol ... or maybe not biya's decision to keep going is kinda confusing, but at the same time, it's not like anyone else stepped forward to challenge him... what's the point of even having elections if no one's gonna run against the king? tchiroma seemed like a nice candidate tho, how did his supporters feel when they lost? and yeah, biya's style is pretty shady, always hiding behind luxury hotels... does anyone think he actually cares about the people or is it all just politics as usual?
