3 trade deadline deals that make sense for the Eagles, 2.0

Philadelphia Eagles Face Trade Deadline, Three Deals Make Sense as Team Looks to Upgrade

With the Eagles now 6-2 and second in the NFC standings, they're in need of making some savvy moves before the November trade deadline. While their roster boasts impressive talent, there are areas where depth is lacking, particularly on defense.

First up is Alontae Taylor, a versatile cornerback from the New Orleans Saints. The 2022 second-round pick has played in 55 NFL games and started 44 of them. His ability to play both inside and outside corners makes him an attractive prospect for the Eagles, who have shown a preference for fast players. With Taylor on board, he'd be used primarily as an outside corner, but his versatility is a major bonus.

Taylor's stats from last season were impressive, with 89 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles, and 16 pass breakups. He's set to become a free agent in 2026, making the Saints' willingness to part ways with him a fair price point for a late third-round pick.

Another candidate for Eagles consideration is Calais Campbell, a veteran defensive lineman from the Arizona Cardinals. Campbell has been productive despite being 38 years old, posting decent stats in recent seasons. The Cardinals have signed him on one-year deals in the past, and his production has suffered accordingly.

Campbell's versatility as a player who can play both on the edge and inside would be an asset for the Eagles, particularly with their current depth at defensive line lacking. While he may not be the most exciting prospect, Campbell is certainly one to consider given his track record of performance.

Finally, there's Evan Neal, an overhyped offensive lineman from the New York Giants. The seventh overall pick in 2022 has been a healthy scratch for every game this season and seems almost certain to leave the team next year. Given that the Eagles are due for another mid-round draft pick in 2027, it makes sense to target Neal now.

The difference between Green's situation and Neal's is significant: last year, we had one year left on Green's rookie contract; Neal is free to sign with anyone, including the Eagles, once his contract expires. Considering their recent success turning first-round busts into legitimate starters (Mekhi Becton), it's worth taking another shot.

While this would require some compromise from both sides - the Eagles might need to part with additional draft picks or players to secure Neal - the potential rewards are well worth the risk. With these trade targets, the Eagles could bolster their defense and upgrade their depth in crucial areas.

I'm loving this NFL trade deadline drama 🀣! The Eagles gotta make some moves, 'specially with Alontae Taylor looking like a solid pickup - that guy's like a corner-back ninja πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ. And can we talk about Calais Campbell being 38 and still bringing the heat? I mean, who needs youth when you've got experience like that on D-line? πŸ˜… And let's be real, Evan Neal's gonna be a free agent soon, so why not snag him before he gets snatched up by another team? The Eagles are due for some good fortune with their draft pick in 2027 - fingers crossed they can turn him into the next Mekhi Becton! 🀞

I'm telling ya πŸ€”, teams like the Eagles gotta make moves like this before the trade deadline or they'll be stuck behind other squads. They've got some great talent on roster but defense is where it's at πŸ”’, you know? I mean Alontae Taylor, now that guy's a gem πŸ’Ž, can play both inside and outside corners, 89 tackles last season? That's impressive! 🀯

And Calais Campbell, veteran defensive lineman, been around the block a few times, but still brings the heat πŸ”₯. He's 38, yeah, old for an NFL player, but he's still getting it done.

Evan Neal though... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ that guy's been a healthy scratch all season, what's going on? I mean, if they're due for another draft pick in 2027, why not just scoop him up now? You gotta think about the future, you know?

But seriously, it makes sense to take a shot at Neal. They've done it before with Mekhi Becton and he ended up being a solid starter. So yeah, if they can get him on board without breaking the bank, that's a win-win for me πŸ†

i think evan neal would be a huge pickup for the eagles πŸ€” they've struggled on o-line all season and if they can snag him at a discount it'd be a major win. plus with the 2027 mid-round pick coming up, they could potentially get another top talent like mekhki becton who turned out to be a gem for them last year πŸ’ͺ

I think trading for Alontae Taylor would be a solid move, his versatility is a game changer 🀯 especially on the outside corner. The Eagles have been relying too much on Jalen Reagor and it's time to bring in some fresh legs. As for Campbell, I know he's 38 but his production hasn't declined that much πŸ™„, and having him would give them another option at DL. Neal is a risk but if they can get him cheaply they should take it, the Eagles have shown they can turn around careers πŸ€”

The Eagles think they're due for a defensive upgrade πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ like everyone else has been saying that since week one of last season lol. But seriously, Alontae Taylor seems like a solid pick up, but Calais Campbell is just being re-treaded out here... I mean, 38 and still productive? That's what they're looking for in an "asset". And don't even get me started on Evan Neal, the overhyped O-lineman who can't even crack the starting lineup πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. The Eagles seem to have a knack for finding guys who fit their "system" and magically turning them into starters... just saying

I'm not sure why the Eagles gotta make such big trades, they're already doin alright 6-2 is no joke! πŸ˜… But if they wanna strengthen that defense, Alontae Taylor's a good pick. He's got skills on both sides and could give 'em some extra speed. And Calais Campbell's been solid even at 38, so he might be worth considerin too.

But then there's Evan Neal... πŸ€” I'm not sure about him, he's had a pretty rough season so far and seems like they're gonna let him go next year anyway. Maybe the Eagles could try to snag 'im for cheap now? It'd be a gamble but it's worth a shot right? πŸ’‘

Ugh, I mean, can you believe how much NFL teams are willing to waste on overhyped players like Evan Neal? πŸ˜’ Like, he's literally been a healthy scratch for every game this season... I get it, the Eagles might want to take a chance, but couldn't they have looked at his stats and thought twice?

And don't even get me started on how much talent is wasted on teams that just can't seem to put together a solid team. Like, Calais Campbell has been productive despite being 38 years old... isn't that kinda like saying "hey, we're gonna put some grey hair in our lineup and hope for the best"? πŸ™„

On a more positive note though, I think it's awesome that the Eagles are looking to bolster their defense. That Alontae Taylor guy sounds like a total gem - I mean, 16 pass breakups last season? 😍 Yeah, sign him up!

I guess what I'm saying is, while I love a good underdog story, sometimes you gotta make smart moves in free agency instead of chasing after players who are just gonna be a bust. πŸ€”

I'm not sold on Evan Neal being a good trade target for the Eagles πŸ€”. He's been benched this season and it seems like he's stuck in a contract limbo...the Giants are basically just waiting for his free agency to be over so they can move him on themselves πŸ’Έ. The Eagles could probably get a decent draft pick in 2027 with minimal loss, rather than splurging on Neal now πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I think the Eagles should go for Alontae Taylor, he's like a diamond in the rough 🌟! I mean, 89 tackles and 16 pass breakups last season? That's some serious skills right there πŸ’ͺ. And with his versatility, he could bring a lot of value to their defense. Plus, he's not too expensive considering it's just a third-round pick πŸ€‘. Campbell is okay, but he's getting old for the NFL and you can't replicate experience, you know? πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ As for Evan Neal... I don't get why they're even thinking about him πŸ˜•. He's like a waste of resources right now, just sitting on the bench collecting a paycheck. I think it's better to wait for 2027 and see what kind of value he'll bring then πŸ€”.

πŸ˜‚ I mean, come on Philly, can't you just make one decent move already? Taylor's a solid pick, no doubt about it 🀩. The dude's got game. Campbell's a veteran, he knows what he's doing πŸ™. And Neal... honestly, I don't know what the Giants see in him πŸ˜‚ but if they're letting him go like that, we should take him πŸ’ͺ. It's time for some serious upgrades on D before November hits. We can't keep relying on Jalen Hurts to make all the plays πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ

THE EAGLES NEED TO GET SOME MORE DEPTH ON THEIR DEFENSE!!! THEY CAN'T KEEP RELYING ON JUST NICK FOLEY AND JAXON HOSkins EVERY GAME!!! ALONTAE TAYLOR WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION AS A FAST CORNERBACK WHO CAN PLAY INSIDE AND OUTSIDE, AND CALAIS CAMPBELL IS ALSO A VETERAN LINEBACKER WHO COULD BRING SOME EXPERIENCE TO THE TEAM. AND EVAN NEAL MIGHT NOT BE OVERHYPED AT ALL, HE'S BEEN STRUGGLING IN NEW YORK AND THE EAGLES COULD TAKE HIM WITH A LATE THIRD-ROUND PICK AND TURN HIM INTO A STARTER LIKE THEY DID WITH MEKHI BECTON!!! IT'S TIME FOR THE EAGLES TO MAKE SOME MOVES BEFORE THE TRADE DEADLINE!!!
