Australia's wicketkeeper Alex Carey has dismissed Stuart Broad's assertion that England is fielding its "worst team since 2010", saying it's a "wait and see" situation.

The comment, made by the former England seamer, sparked a response from Carey, who expects to face a competitive Ashes series this winter.

England's limited red-ball preparation ahead of The Ashes has been defended by assistant coach Marcus Trescothick, with the team set to play just one three-day warm-up game against the England Lions before facing Australia in Perth.

This contrasts with the last time England toured Australia in 2010/11, when they took on state sides Western Australia and South Australia as well as Australia A during a heavy build-up ahead of the drawn first Test in Brisbane. The Australian team have been praised for their recent successes, including winning the World Test Championship.

However, captain Pat Cummins is expected to miss the series opener with a back injury, while Broad's assessment that England has its weakest team since 2010 was met with skepticism by Carey, who says he expects the Aussies to face a competitive Ashes series.

I'm not sure I trust Broad's word on this one 🤔. He did have a decent career but his comments seem like an attempt to psyche out the Aussies ahead of the Ashes 😏. Carey seems more level-headed and I think he might be right about it being a "wait and see" situation ⏰. The fact that England is only playing one warm-up game against the Lions doesn't bode well for them, if you ask me 🤦‍♂️. We'll just have to wait and see how this series plays out!

I don't know about Stuart Broad saying they got the "worst team" but I do think the Aussies are gonna come out on top this time around 🤔👊 They've been looking pretty strong lately, especially with that recent World Test Championship win.
