US judge asks for assurance Abrego Garcia won’t be deported to Liberia

Federal Judge Demands Assurance Abrego Garcia Won't Be Deported to Liberia Amid Claims of Human Rights Violations.

In a move decried by lawyers, the Trump administration is seeking to deport a Salvadoran man named Kilmar Abrego Garcia back to his West African homeland, Liberia. However, a federal judge has requested assurances that officials will not take action against him while an injunction barring his deportation remains in place.

Abrego Garcia, 45, was wrongfully deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration in March, violating a 2019 court order that barred him from being sent back to his homeland. He was later returned to the US under a judge's order but was swiftly charged with human smuggling in Tennessee and is seeking dismissal of the case.

Abrego Garcia's lawyers claim he is being targeted for political retribution, despite administration officials' repeated accusations that he is a member of the MS-13 gang, a claim that has never been proven in court. The group claims Abrego Garcia has no ties to Liberia, making deportation there "cruel and unconstitutional".

The Trump administration's plan to deport Abrego Garcia to Liberia comes as advocacy groups have argued that the government's practice of sending deportees to countries with long histories of human rights violations violates due process rights.

Abrego Garcia is also seeking asylum in the US, where he has expressed a willingness to resettle if it means being welcomed as a legal immigrant and not re-deported to El Salvador.

I'm thinking... this whole thing just seems so unfair 🤔. Like, Abrego Garcia was already through some stuff and now they're trying to send him back to Liberia? That's just not right. I mean, the US has a reputation for being a country that protects its people, but it sounds like we're playing catch-up here... or worse, ignoring our own human rights obligations 🙅‍♂️. The fact that Abrego Garcia's lawyers think he's getting targeted because of politics just makes me wanna scream 😤. And what about due process? I mean, don't we need to figure out if this guy is actually a gang member or not before we start talking deportation 🚫? It just feels like the system's broken here...

🤯 just read that a judge wants to make sure Abrego Garcia doesn't get sent back to Liberia lol what's up with that? 🚫 like, isn't that kinda cruel? 🙅‍♂️ he's already been wrongfully deported and now they wanna send him all the way back to a country where his own family might be suffering? 😩 the fact that they're trying to deport him because of some claims about MS-13 is wild too... like, can't they see he's just trying to live here? 🌎 anyone else thinking this is a total red flag? 🚨

😒 this whole thing is so messed up 🤯 abrego garcia was already wrongfully deported once, and now they're trying to send him back to liberia? that's just cruel 🌪️ and the fact that his lawyers are saying he's being targeted for politicking is really sus 🤔 i mean, if he's guilty of smuggling charges, let's have a fair trial or something 🚫 not this shady deportation stuff 👀

I mean come on, Liberia? That's like sending someone back to the land of their ancestors or something... 🤷‍♂️ It seems crazy to me that the Trump administration is still trying to deport this guy when he already had a court order blocking him from being sent back. And what's up with the claims about him being in MS-13? Like, if it was true, wouldn't that be a more serious issue than just deportation? 🤔 I don't get why they're trying to make a big deal out of this and not just focus on the fact that he didn't break any laws or commit any crimes. 🙄

OMG u wont bliev this 🤯! So they wanna send this guy Abrego back 2 Liberia?? Like wut? He's already b4 been sent bk 2 El Salvdor & he's like "no thank u" 😒. And now they're tryna deport him 2 a country where its prob gonna happen 2 him??? That dont seem rite at all 🙅‍♂️. Plus hes got asylum here & hes willin 2 resettle if thats wht it takes 🤗. The govts practice of sendin ppl back 2 countries with bad human rights records is straight up cruel 👎

🙄 I mean, what's next? They're gonna start sending ppl back to where they came from just because the gov't thinks they don't belong here anymore 🤷‍♀️? Like, come on guys... Liberia is literally in West Africa, not exactly a short trip 😂. Can't they see that deporting someone without proper justification and due process is basically a recipe for disaster? 🚨 I'm so tired of the gov't playing politics with ppl's lives... it's like they think they can just dictate who's "cruel" or "constitutional" or whatever 🙄. Anyway, I hope this guy gets his asylum claims sorted out ASAP and doesn't end up on some crazy deportation rollercoaster 🚂.

🤔 This whole thing just smells like a case of voter suppression 🗳️, you know? The Trump administration's trying to deport this dude back to Liberia, but only because they can't get him out of the country on his own merits 💼. I mean, what's up with that? 🤷‍♂️ Meanwhile, lawyers are crying foul over human rights violations and due process rights ⚖️. Can we talk about how this administration's record on human rights is already a hot mess 🔥? And let's not forget about the asylum seeker aspect – it's like they're trying to punish people for seeking refuge 🛬. I'm all for securing our borders, but not at the expense of basic humanity 👍.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one... I mean, what's next? They're gonna send us back to the Stone Age or something 😂👎. Deporting someone to Liberia just because they claim he's got ties to MS-13 is just crazy talk. It sounds like a bad 90s action movie plot where the bad guy gets sent to Africa to live out his days in exile 🤪.

And what about all these human rights violations, man? We can't just send people back to countries with questionable track records of human rights abuses and expect it to be okay. It's like they're saying "you know what? Forget the US Constitution and due process... we'll just stick you in a foreign country and hope for the best 🤷‍♂️".

I mean, I've seen some wild stuff in my time online, but this one takes the cake. Can't we just try to do better for each other as humans? 😔

I don't think this is right... 🤔 A federal judge is demanding assurances that Abrego Garcia won't be deported to Liberia because of human rights concerns, but how can they guarantee that? Isn't Liberia still considered one of the countries with bad human rights records? I need more info on this. Where's the evidence that deportation to Liberia would violate his human rights? And what about all these claims he has no ties to Liberia? 🤷‍♂️
