A 15-year-old boy from Queens remains unaccounted for after disappearing from his home nearly a month ago. Jafet Jemmott was last seen leaving his Burchell Avenue residence in Arverne around 6 a.m. on November 28, following an argument with his father over wanting money to go shopping.
According to police and the boy's family, Jemmott was supposed to meet friends at the Kings Plaza Mall in Brooklyn that morning but failed to show up. His parents tracked his phone's signal as he crossed the Cross Bay Bridge, where it eventually lost battery. It is believed that Jemmott boarded the Q52 bus in his neighborhood and may have been heading to meet someone.
Jemmott's father, Federico, expressed concerns for his son's disappearance, stating that Jafet has "excellent grades" in school and enjoys playing video games. The 15-year-old has never gone missing from home before, according to those close to him.
Federico emphasized the importance of finding his son, saying, "If he's not being held by someone that's not allowing him to speak, then he should reach out to his family and know that his family misses him and that we all love him." The community is rallying around the family, with prayers and hopes for Jemmott's safe return.
The NYPD is seeking information on Jemmott's whereabouts and asks anyone with tips to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or submit a tip online. The boy was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants, and white sneakers, and is described as being approximately 5'6" with brown eyes and black hair.
