Dramatic Cliff Rescue in Point Reyes National Seashore Saves Stranded Hikers
A high-stakes cliff rescue operation unfolded on Sunday evening in Northern California's rugged coastline, as emergency crews and police worked together to save two stranded hikers from a treacherous rock formation. The dramatic rescue came just south of Pelican Lake, on the Point Reyes National Seashore coast.
According to officials, the Marin County Fire Department issued an alert at approximately 7 p.m., requesting assistance from California Highway Patrol (CHP) H-30, the National Park Service, and the Marin County Sheriff's Office. Upon arrival, CHP deployed a paramedic who used a skid landing technique to establish contact with the stranded hikers.
The crew then conducted another skid landing along the cliff and carefully loaded both female hikers onto the helicopter for transport. The aircraft, part of an awaiting ground ambulance, flew the rescued hikers to safety, where they would receive medical attention.
Despite the harrowing rescue, officials have yet to release any updates on the condition of the two hikers, leaving their families and loved ones anxiously waiting for news.
