Violent Outbreak at Chicago CTA Station Leaves Two Injured
A late-night altercation at a bus station in Chicago's Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood turned violent when a stranger pulled out a sharp object and attacked two individuals, leaving them with stab wounds.
The victims were identified as a 24-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman. The dispute began between the pair, who were fighting with someone they did not know at around 10:55 p.m. in the first block of West 69th Street. It was during this confrontation that the unknown assailant pulled out the sharp object, striking both victims.
When responding officers arrived on the scene, the woman was found on a CTA platform, clutching her right chest and suffering from a puncture wound. She was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
The 24-year-old man, meanwhile, had sustained a stab wound to his upper back. He too was taken to the same hospital for treatment, with officials reporting that he was in fair condition.
Despite an investigation underway by Area 1 detectives, no arrests have been made at this time.
