I gotta say, I'm kinda disappointed in the whole academic publishing thing right now

. Everyone's so focused on getting their papers out ASAP, they forget about the actual content of what they're saying

. I mean, think about it, if you just slap some fancy jargon and citations together, is that really making your argument any stronger?
And don't even get me started on the whole "publish or perish" thing

. It's like, isn't that just a recipe for burnout and mediocrity? I mean, what's the point of chasing after some arbitrary number when you're not really contributing anything meaningful to the conversation?
I know some people are gonna say I'm being too harsh, but honestly, I think we need to start valuing quality over quantity in academic publishing

. Maybe that means taking a few more years to get your ideas right, or maybe it means being willing to take a stand on something you don't fully agree with (which can be kinda scary, I'll admit

).
