Accused Stockton serial killer sees one Oakland murder charge dropped

Prosecutors in the Bay Area have made a tactical decision to drop one of the murder charges against Wesley Brownlee, a Stockton man suspected of being involved in a string of serial killings that left multiple people dead in 2021 and 2022.

Brownlee will still face trial on six other murder charges, including one fatal shooting in Oakland. The lone survivor of the attacks, Natasha Latour, was shot ten times in April 2021 in Stockton, and Brownlee is also accused of killing another man on that same night.

The decision to drop the seventh charge has sparked some confusion among observers, with prosecutors citing a need to "expedite justice" for the victims and their families. The motive behind the killings remains unclear.

In a statement, San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas said his office had set in motion the indictment and grand jury proceedings to speed up the process of bringing Brownlee to trial.

Brownlee's first court appearance in months was marked by the presence of Latour, who is still recovering from her ordeal. The case has been ongoing for some time, with prosecutors citing a need to balance justice with the complexities of the investigation.

As the trial approaches, many are left wondering what role Brownlee played in the string of brutal killings that have shaken the community.

OMG u no wut's going on wif dis Weslly Brownlee guy 🤔?? So like, prosecutors just decided 2 drop 1 murder charge against him... but dont worry hes still gonna face trial on 6 other ones lol. Its kinda weird cuz ther was only ONE survivor from all these attacks and shes stil recovering btw 🤕. Prosecutors are tryin 2 "expedite justice" or watever, but idk how that helps since ther iz so many open q's about the motive behind it all 🤷‍♀️. Its like, werent they supposed 2 catch this guy a looong time ago? Anywayz, its gonna b interestin 2 c wht really went down in this trial 📚💼

omg u think dropin 1 charge is good 4 Wesley lol but at the same time like isnt he still facin trial 4 6 other murder charges?? that cant b right 🤷‍♂️ idk man i feel bad 4 Natasha Latour she's still recoverin from those wounds... but like whats goin on here? why drop 1 charge if hes still facin trial 4 others?? didnt they just make it harder 4 him or watever 😒

🤔 Still can't wrap my head around this decision... think it's a slippery slope, dropping one charge like that. What's to stop them from dropping others down the line? It feels like they're just trying to rush through the process without really getting to the bottom of things 💼

I'm not surprised they dropped one of the charges 🙃. I mean, think about it - if you're gonna pin someone down for a bunch of murders, chances are some of those might be shaky at best. The whole investigation was a mess from the start, and now we know why: they didn't have enough to stick with the guy 💔.

I'm sure Natasha Latour is still getting a raw deal out of this though 😒. I mean, she's basically got an accomplice walking free (at least on one count). And don't even get me started on the whole "expedite justice" thing - sounds like a total cop-out to me 🚔.

I'm not saying Brownlee is totally innocent or anything, but come on... six other murders? That's some heavy stuff. I bet he didn't do 'em all by himself 😏. There's gotta be more to this story than what we're getting, and I'll believe it when I see it 🤔.

I don't usually comment but I've been following this case and I'm kinda confused about why they dropped one of the charges 🤔. I mean, if he's guilty of killing Natasha Latour ten times, it seems like a pretty strong motive to convict him, right? But at the same time, I get what the prosecutors are saying - expedite justice for the victims and their families is important 💔.

It just feels like they're dropping one hammer and still keeping all the others up their sleeve 🥊. What if it's just a strategy to throw Brownlee off guard before the trial? It's hard to say without more info, but I'm definitely keeping an eye on this case 👀.

Ugh 🤯 I don't get it 🤷‍♀️... dropping one charge just so they can expedite justice for the victims and their families? Like, isn't that already being done by having him on trial for the other six charges? It feels like they're just trying to spin this in a way that makes them look better than actual progress is being made 🙄. And what's with Natasha Latour still recovering from her ordeal being present at his court appearance? Like, isn't she supposed to be getting help and support or something? 🤕 It's all so frustrating 💔...

🤔 so this is crazy... i mean, dropping one charge just doesn't add up, you feel? like, they're still leaving him with 6 other murder charges... seems kinda pointless. maybe it's a strategy to make him think he's getting off scot-free or somethin' 🤑. the fact that Natasha Latour was shot 10 times and is still recovering... that's just wild. how are we s'posed to know what went down in that case? 🤷‍♂️ anyway, it's gonna be super interesting to see how this all plays out at trial... my bet is he'll get convicted on those other 6 charges 🚔

🤔 This whole thing is just so confusing 😕, I mean, one minute you're thinking, okay, they're dropping this charge to expedite justice, but then the next minute you're like, wait a minute, didn't they want to make sure he's held accountable for all these brutal murders? 🤷‍♂️ It just doesn't add up.

And what's with the fact that Natasha Latour was shot ten times and still managed to survive? That's just crazy 😲. I mean, I'm glad she's recovering, but it's like, what even happened to her that night? Was she some kind of lucky duck or something? 🤷‍♂️

The motive behind the killings is still unclear, which is super weird considering how much attention this whole thing has gotten 📰. I mean, you'd think by now we'd have a clue, but nope, nothing's been said about that. It's like they just want to trial him and see what happens without actually knowing why he did it 💔.

The fact that Brownlee is still facing six other murder charges makes sense, I guess 🤔. But dropping one charge just feels like a cop-out to me 😒. Maybe they're trying to avoid another lengthy trial? Whatever the reason, this whole thing is just a mess 🚮.

Wow 🤔. Like, you'd think dropping one charge would be a big deal, but I guess it's all about expediting justice and keeping things moving 😬. It's crazy how much uncertainty there is around this whole thing - like, what even was Brownlee's motive? And Natasha Latour still has to live with the trauma of being shot 10 times... 🤕. The trial's gonna be super intense, that's for sure 👊.

idk why they dropped the 7th charge 🤔, seems like they wanna expedite justice and all but what if it means he gets off scot free? 💔 at least Natasha Latour got to see him again, I guess is some kind of closure for her 😔. but still, six more murder charges should be enough, shouldn't it? 🤷‍♂️ this whole thing just feels so confusing and messy...

I don't usually comment but... this whole thing is super weird 🤔. I mean, drop one charge and just move on to the others? It feels like they're trying to avoid something or give Brownlee a better shot at getting off scot-free. The victim's statement during his court appearance was really emotional too 😔. She still has PTSD from that night and it's clear how traumatic her experience was. I don't think we know enough about the case yet to make any real judgments, but it's definitely going to be interesting to see how this all plays out 🎬.

I gotta say, dropping one of the murder charges just seems kinda weird. I mean, they're still keeping him on six other charges, which is fair enough, but you'd think they'd wanna stick it out with all the evidence they've got. But hey, maybe there's some new info that came to light and they decided to cut their losses. The thing that really has me scratching my head is what's gonna happen next. If he's not being charged for the 7th murder, then what was the point of even indicting him in the first place? It just feels like a lot of work went into building a case and then... poof! They drop it. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out 🤔

idk why they dropped one of the charges lol... it's still gonna be weird seeing him on trial for 6 other murders 🤔 meanwhile, Natasha Latour is still recovering from those 10 bullets to the back 💔 hope she gets justice too one thing's for sure - this case is gonna be a wild ride 🚨

I'm really confused about this decision by the prosecutors 🤔. I mean, they're trying to expedite justice and all that, but isn't dropping one charge just gonna make it look like they couldn't prove him for everything? It's like, okay, so he might not have been directly responsible for some of these murders, but what about the other ones he's accused of? Are we just gonna let him walk because of one dropped charge? That doesn't seem fair to me 😕. And what about Natasha Latour? She's still recovering from all this, and now she's got mixed signals on whether or not Brownlee is really gonna face trial for her attack? I think the prosecution should be more transparent about their thought process here 👀. The case has been going on for so long already, it feels like we're just getting more questions than answers 🤷‍♀️.

idk why they dropped one charge and not all of them 🤔. it's like, if you're gonna do it, do it right? but at the same time, i get that justice is a process and all that jazz. my friend's cousin was involved in a crime case and it took years to go to trial... i guess this is just one part of the long journey for Natasha Latour 🌈. anyway, the fact that Brownlee's still facing six other murder charges should be a bit reassuring for everyone else who got shot 🤕. ugh, can't even imagine being in her shoes 😩

OMG, just saw this news about Wesley Brownlee and I'm literally shook 😱. I mean, can you even imagine how scary it must've been for Natasha Latour to be shot 10 times? 🤕 Like, we're talking trauma on a whole other level here. And now they're dropping one of the murder charges? What's going on? 🤔

I know the prosecutors want to expedite justice and all that, but at the same time, I'm just so frustrated that the motive behind these killings is still unclear 💡. Like, how can we even begin to understand what drove him to do this if we don't know the why? 🤷‍♀️

And can we talk about Natasha Latour for a sec? 🙌 She's literally the strongest person I've ever heard of after going through that and still recovering. We need more people like her in this world 💖. Anyway, I'm so curious to see how this trial unfolds and what we'll actually learn from it 👀.

🤔 I'm not sure if dropping one charge is gonna make much of a difference here...it's like they're trying to ease off the pressure a bit? 🙃 I mean, we still got all these unanswered questions and what really went down in those attacks is still shrouded in mystery. And now that Brownlee's only facing 6 other charges, it's hard not to wonder if he was just taking the fall for someone else? 😬 The whole situation's just super confusing. I guess we'll just have to keep waiting for answers... 👀

Ugh, can't believe they're dropping one of the charges 🤯! I mean, I get it, they wanna expedite justice and all, but it feels like they're not taking this seriously enough... ten bullets to Natasha's back in 2021? That's some crazy stuff 💀. And what about the guy he allegedly killed that same night? Shouldn't we be talking about him too? 🤔. I'm just worried that by dropping one of the charges, they're sending a message that maybe these victims weren't as important as everyone thinks... it's just not right 😕.

omg what r going on here?? 😲 I cant even think straight about this one... theyre dropping one charge but still charging him with 6 others?? like whos in charge? 🤯 and wut about natasha latour?? she was shot 10 times and still recovering ?? she deserves justice more than ever! 💔 how can u just drop a charge cuz u wanna expedite justice for the victims and their families??? its not that simple, man... theres more to it, like maybe hes gonna cop a plea deal or somethin 😒
