Apple’s OLED transition could come with a more expensive iPad Mini

Apple's decision to shift towards OLED displays across more of its devices, including the MacBook Air and iPad Air, could come with a hefty price tag. According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to bring the upgraded display technology to these devices next year, coinciding with an increase in prices as high as $100 for the iPad Mini.

The move follows Apple's successful integration of OLED displays into its iPhone and Apple Watch, which has provided improved brightness, contrast, and richer blacks. However, implementing this same technology across more devices is a complex task that could take years to complete.

Gurman reports that an OLED-equipped MacBook Air "isn’t likely" to arrive before 2028. Meanwhile, the iPad Air will also get an upgrade, although no timeline has been provided for its release.

Furthermore, Apple appears to be planning to bring OLED displays to a touchscreen MacBook Pro that could arrive as early as late next year or early 2027. However, it's unclear when non-Pro laptops and tablets will receive this technology, with some suggesting it may take several years.

As Apple continues to push the boundaries of display technology, consumers can expect to see improved visuals across its product lineup. While the cost implications are significant, Apple fans may be willing to pay a premium for the enhanced display experience offered by OLED.

I think this is a big deal for Apple's future plans 📈👀. They're taking a risk by switching to OLED displays, but it could be worth it in the long run. I mean, who doesn't want better brightness and contrast on their devices? It's like upgrading from a budget-friendly hotel room to a luxurious penthouse suite 🛋️🏠.

The fact that they're planning to bring it to more devices is exciting, but we should be prepared for some price hikes 💸. I'm not sure if $100 for the iPad Mini is too steep, though 😐. Maybe Apple will offer some bundle deals or discounts to make it more affordable?

It's also interesting to think about how this tech shift will impact the industry as a whole 🤔. We might see other companies follow suit and upgrade their displays soon. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what Apple has in store for us in 2027 🎉!

I'm all about that retro vibe 🤖, but let's get real, $100 price hike on the iPad Mini is just straight-up crazy 💸! I mean, I love Apple as much as the next fan, but come on, they're already making those iPhones and Watches with OLED displays, why do we need to shell out extra cash for it in the MacBook Air and iPad Air too? 🤔

It's like, I know the tech is gonna be sick and all that 💻, but at some point, you gotta consider your consumer base. A lot of people are on a budget, and if they're already feeling the pinch with the iPhone prices, throwing in another $100 for an iPad Mini? No thanks 🙅‍♂️! Give me a break, Apple, we get it, OLED is cool 😎, but don't go too crazy with the price tag, or you'll lose all your loyal customers 👋.

omg u no whats gonna happen w/ apple's new laptops & ipad lol they're changin to oled displays which is gonna make them way more expensive like whoa $100 4 the ipad mini?! idk how long it'll take but apparently its a big deal cuz its been workin out great 4 their iphone & watch i mean whos not lovin that display tho? its gonna be so sick 2 c what they do w/ it 🤩

I gotta say, I'm both excited and skeptical about this move 🤔. On one hand, I've been using my MacBook Air's Retina display since 2015 and it still holds up amazingly well, so an OLED upgrade sounds like a game-changer for me. The thought of richer blacks, improved contrast, and more vibrant colors is thrilling 😍.

But at the same time, $100 is a pretty penny, especially for a device I'm gonna use daily 🤑. I can understand why Apple might want to increase prices, but it's gotta be tough for budget-conscious consumers like me 🤷‍♂️. Still, if it means getting the best display experience available, I reckon it'll be worth the investment 💸

omg I'm kinda low-key excited about this OLED move lol 🤯 but at the same time I'm like totally worried about the price tag 🤑 those $100 iPad Mini upgrades sound steep even for an Apple fan 💸 anyway I guess it's all worth it if we get to enjoy those gorgeous blacks and improved brightness on our MacBooks and iPads 👀📱 but 2028 for a MacBook Air? that feels like forever 😩 fingers crossed they'll hurry up tho 🤞

idk why ppl r so mad about it tho 🤔, 100 bucks is like, nothing compared to the new iphone prices lol 💸. and think about all the money ppl save on battery life with oled displays! 💡 they should just increase prices for all devices that need upgrade, not just the mini 👍

think they're gonna make us shell out even more cash 4 these fancy new displays lol i mean, $100 extra on the ipad mini is steep, idk if its worth it tho... dont get me wrong, oled is def better, but is it really worth the price hike? maybe its just me, but i think apple's getting a bit carried away with their high-end tech
