Balkan House plans first Detroit location - Detroit Metro Times

Balkan House to Open First Detroit Location in Summer

A new development project from the Detroit Shipping Co. is bringing a taste of Europe to Detroit's streets with the opening of Balkan House, a beloved eatery known for its authentic döner kebabs.

Located at 3700 Third Ave., the first Detroit location will be part of a concept similar to the company's food hall, featuring multiple restaurants and bars alongside 10 studio apartments on the second floor. The development is set to open in the summer, pending any finalization of details.

Balkan House has gained a loyal following since its opening in Hamtramck in 2019, with fans flocking to the restaurant for its European-style pita sandwiches. The Ferndale location soon followed, and the eatery even expanded into a food truck, but unfortunately, the original Hamtramck spot closed earlier this year.

The company's decision to bring Balkan House to Detroit comes as no surprise, given the eatery's popularity among locals and visitors alike. With its unique offerings and European flair, it's likely that the restaurant will become a staple of the city's food scene.

Ugh, another chain eating up the Michelin vibes in D-town... just kidding, I guess Balkan House is kinda cool! 🤷‍♀️ I mean, who doesn't love a good döner kebab? It's like the ultimate comfort food for when you need a taste of Europe in America. The fact that they're opening up shop here makes sense, though - Detroiters are always down to try new (and old) things. Plus, it'll be dope to have some international flair on Third Ave. 🤞 Just hope they don't displace all the local eats...

Just saw this news 🤯 about Balkan House opening in Detroit... think it's awesome they're bringing some European vibes to our streets 😊. Their pita sandwiches are supposed to be insane! 👌 Definitely going to check this out when it opens in summer 🌞. More options for us foodies, yay 🍴

omg 🤩 can't wait to try out balkan house in detroit!!! i mean, who wouldn't want authentic döner kebabs in motorcity? it's like they're bringing a taste of europe right into our own backyard 😊 the fact that it's part of this bigger food hall concept with studios above is already giving me ideas for tiny apartments 🤣 anyway, can't wait to see all the detroiters and visitors alike flocking over there in the summer!

omg i just heard about this new balkan house in detroit 🤩 i'm so down for some authentic döner kebabs after hearing about this place 😋 i remember when they first opened in hamtramck back in 2019 and it was like a whole new thing for us detroits, but now they're coming to the motor city too? that's awesome 🎉 can't wait to try out their pita sandwiches and food truck too! summer is gonna be lit 🔥

🤔 Detroit's getting some serious FOMO vibes with this Balkan House opening. Döner kebabs are on the menu? Yes please! I mean, who doesn't love a good pita sandwich 🍞. It's awesome that they're bringing some European flair to the city. Can't wait to try it out (and see if their food can live up to the hype 😉). On the downside, the original Hamtramck spot closed... RIP, that place was a hidden gem 🎭. Guess we'll just have to find our döner kebab fix in Motor City now 😊.

Summer in Detroit is gonna be lit 🌞 but I wonder if we're losing our local flavor with all these new, global-inspired spots popping up. Balkan House sounds like a game-changer, no doubt about it 🤩 but what does it mean for the city's food identity? Is it just another chapter in Detroit's melting pot story or is it something more? I think it's dope that people are embracing European flavors but can we also learn to appreciate our own unique history and cuisine?

Just what Detroit needs - more awesome eats! 🤩 Can't wait for the Balkan House to open its doors and bring some serious flavor to the Motor City 💨

OMG 💖 I'm SO down for some authentic Turkish vibes in Detroit! Balkan House is already a fave spot for me after trying their pita sandwiches 🤤 Can't wait to see them bring this taste of Europe to 3rd Ave.! It's like, finally something new and exciting happening in the city 🎉💥 The food hall concept sounds awesome too - can you imagine all those restaurants and bars? 😍👍

I'm telling you, this is more than just a random business move... think about it, Balkan House is bringing a taste of Europe to Detroit, but what if that's not just about the food? What if they're trying to create a cultural divide or something? I mean, we all know how important the Balkans are in European politics and history... don't be surprised if this is just a way for them to plant their flag in the city 🤔. And have you seen the location at 3700 Third Ave.? That's some weird number, sounds like a code or something. I'll be keeping an eye on this one, trust me...

OMG 🤩 I'm so stoked about this news! Growing up in Detroit, it's been super hard to find good food with an international twist, but Balkan House sounds like exactly what we need! Their döner kebabs are literally legendary and I've heard their pita sandwiches are on point too! 🍴 I've had the chance to try them out when they came to Hamtramck and I'm hooked! Can't wait to check out the new spot in Detroit this summer - it's gonna be a game changer for our food scene!

OMG 🤯, I'm so stoked they're bringing Balkan House to Detroit! 😍 I mean, who doesn't love a good döner kebab? 🍗👌 I've been to the Ferndale location and it's seriously one of my fave spots. I was a bit bummed when they closed down the Hamtramck spot earlier this year... but I'm so hyped that Detroit is getting its own version! 🎉 The fact that it's part of a bigger food hall concept with studios on the second floor? Mind. Blown. 💥 Can't wait to check it out and see what all the fuss is about! 👍

omg did u hear that the original Hamtramck spot closed earlier this yr? 🤕 Balkan House is still doing well tho but i'm skeptical about their new detroit location... i mean whats next? more chain restaurants and less local spots? 🤔 plus its not like detroit needs another food hall or anything 😒
