Bigger cruise ships coming to Manhattan's West Side under new piers plan

Manhattan is on track for a massive transformation as officials unveil plans to revamp the aging Manhattan Cruise Terminal, set to accommodate some of the world's largest and most luxurious passenger ships. The city Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has proposed sweeping upgrades that would see new facilities and modern piers built along the Hudson River between West 47th and West 54th Streets.

The plan, which is expected to make the terminal capable of handling three massive vessels simultaneously, each carrying up to 8,000 passengers. This represents a significant increase from the current capacity of two ships, which can accommodate around 4,000 people. The upgrades are hailed as a major boon for the city's tourism industry, which is expected to reap substantial economic benefits.

However, environmentalists have long called for changes at the terminal to reduce pollution caused by idling ships in the river. Under the new plan, new electrical infrastructure will be installed to address this issue, providing a welcome respite from the chronic problem of vessel emissions in the area. Additionally, the construction of new pedestrian walkways is expected to help alleviate congestion and mitigate the impact on local residents.

While details remain scarce, including timelines and cost estimates, EDC officials have emphasized the importance of modernizing the terminal. The agency has promised that this will not only meet industry demands but also grow economic impact, tax revenue, and public access to the waterfront.

just saw the plans for manhattan cruise terminal ๐Ÿคฏ it's crazy how much they're planning to upgrade it! i mean, three massive ships at once? that's like a whole new level of luxury travel ๐Ÿšฃโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒ† and i get why the city wants to do this, it'll definitely bring in more money ๐Ÿ’ธ for the local economy. but what really gets me is how they're tackling the pollution thing ๐ŸŒŽ with new electrical infrastructure... about time! the pedestrian walkways are also a great touch ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ’จ gotta love seeing that congestion decreased and residents happy ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm thinking the city is trying to make a good impression on wealthy travelers ๐Ÿšข๐Ÿ’ธ. It's true, more people coming in means money for local businesses and stuff. But at what cost? I hope they really are addressing pollution issues. Idling ships are bad news for the environment ๐Ÿ˜•. Let's just hope the new walkways and electrical upgrades make a real difference. And please, let's not forget about those massive vessels ๐Ÿคฏ... I mean, who needs that many people on one ship?!

OMG yaaas ๐Ÿคฉ Manhattan is about to get a major facelift!!! ๐Ÿ˜ I'm so hyped for the new cruise terminal - it's gonna be lit! ๐Ÿ’ฅ Can you imagine sailing into the Hudson River on one of those massive vessels? It gives me all the feels ๐Ÿ˜ But, gotta give it up to the environmentalists too ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’š For them, this is a major win in reducing pollution and making our city a cleaner place. And, tbh, who doesn't love a good pedestrian walkway? ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ™๏ธ This is the future of tourism, folks! ๐Ÿ’ธ Let's get ready for some serious economic growth and tax revenue ๐Ÿค‘

๐ŸŒ† they're finally upgrading manhattan cruise terminal. about time, right? ๐Ÿ’ก it's crazy how much pollution from idling ships was a thing ๐Ÿšซ glad they're installing new electrical infrastructure. hope it doesn't come at the expense of local residents' space ๐Ÿ™๏ธ would be awesome if they could also improve water quality in the hudson river ๐Ÿ’ง anyway, i guess this is a step in the right direction ๐Ÿ‘

OMG, can you even imagine having 3 massive ships docked at once in Manhattan?! ๐Ÿšข๐Ÿ’ฅ It's gonna be a game-changer for tourism, no doubt! But, like, environmentalists have been on my case about this terminal being super polluto and stuff... ๐ŸŒŽ So, it's cool that they're installing new electrical infrastructure to reduce emissions. That's, like, a major win, imo! ๐Ÿ˜Š I'm also stoked to hear that pedestrian walkways are being built to alleviate congestion - it'll be so much easier for locals and tourists alike to enjoy the waterfront without getting frazzled. But, like, we need more deets on timelines and costs, you know? ๐Ÿค‘ It's gonna be wild to see this project come together! ๐Ÿ’ฅ
