Bitter rows and overnight talks: how a fragile Cop30 deal was agreed – podcast

I'm glad they were able to come to an agreement 🙏, but it feels like we're just scratching the surface here...my kid's school is already talking about how extreme weather events are becoming more common 🌪️ and I'm worried about their future. The 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 sounds like a good start, but what about the next decade? We need to see some serious commitment from world leaders to make this happen 📈.

I also feel like we're not seeing enough action from developed countries when it comes to supporting developing countries that are already feeling the effects of climate change 🌎. My kid's friend is from a country that's struggling with droughts and famine, and I don't see how our efforts here in the West are making a difference.

It's like we're all just taking tiny steps towards a solution while the clock is ticking ⏰. We need to be realistic about what we can achieve right now, but also know that we have to keep pushing for more. My kid asks me when they'll be safe from climate change, and it's hard for me to give them an answer 😔.

I'm not sure if 2025 is a bit too soon for us to be seeing a deal like this 🤔... I mean, we've got to give credit where it's due, it's a start, but does anyone really think we're doing enough? 🙄 We need to be pushing ourselves way harder to get those emissions down. And what about the developing countries, are they getting the support they need from us rich nations? It feels like the same old politics as usual... one step forward, two steps back 😒. I'm all for compromise and finding common ground, but when it comes to something as important as climate change, can't we all just agree on that? 🤷‍♂️

😊 I'm so glad we're seeing some progress on this huge issue! It feels like a big weight's been lifted off our shoulders, but at the same time, it's frustrating that there's still so much to be done 🤯. Like, I get that countries have different priorities and stuff, but come on! We can't just keep kicking the can down the road anymore ⏱️. I'm hoping that we'll see even more drastic measures put in place soon, like a ban on fossil fuels or something. It's crazy that some people thought 50% was a good number for emissions reduction 🤷‍♀️. I mean, what's another 10-15% gonna do? 🤑

🤔 This deal might seem like a win at first, but let's dive deeper 📊. The fact that countries couldn't agree on drastic measures is concerning ⚠️. A 50% reduction by 2030 sounds good on paper, but what about the details? Are we talking about phase-out dates for different countries or industries? It's like they're hiding something behind a blanket of vague promises 🎭.

And let's not forget about those developing countries 🌏. They need more support and resources to transition away from fossil fuels, but this deal seems to be ignoring them ⚫️. We can't just expect them to magically reduce their emissions overnight 😴. It feels like a step in the right direction, but I'd rather see some concrete actions than empty promises 💨.

I'm all for progress, but we need more than that 🚀. The climate crisis is real, and we can't keep making excuses or taking it one step at a time ⏱️. We need to see more commitment from world leaders and some serious policy changes 🔥. Until then, I'll be keeping a close eye on this deal 👀.
