'Bizarre' bonuses and sausage sizzles: how Australia's outsource call centres try to lure in poorly paid workers

I mean, I feel bad for these call centre workers, gotta be tough working long hours with minimal training... 🤔 I've had friends who've worked there and they say it's a nightmare, plus the pay is pretty meh considering what public servants get. The idea that these companies are trying to distract them from their low morale just doesn't sit right, feels like a PR stunt if you ask me... 🤑 But at the same time, can we blame them for taking whatever they can get? The industry needs workers and it's not like there are heaps of other options. I do think Emmanuel Josserand makes a valid point about quality of service though - public-run call centres might be able to offer something more reliable... 📞

Ugh, these companies just want to get cheap labour and not actually care about the workers 🤦‍♂️. Offering giveaways and trying to make it "fun" is just a way to distract them from the fact that they're working their lives away for minimal pay. I mean, who doesn't love spending 12 hours a day on the phone with annoyed people? 📞 And what's up with the low starting pay rates? Like, they expect us to live off minimum wage and still make ends meet? 😒 The companies just want to get in and out without actually investing in their staff. It's all about profits over people... I'm not surprised it's happening at a high turnover rate 🚪

I mean come on, $52k a year is basically minimum wage for doing what amounts to data entry on the phone all day 😩. And don't even get me started on these 'incentives' like sausage sizzles... yeah right, it's just a way to keep people from leaving when they realize they're working for a soulless corporate machine 💸.

man I remember when call centres used to be all about helping people, now it's just about raking in the cash... 🤑 3k in giveaways isn't gonna cut it when you're stuck on Centrelink phone lines all day, feeling like you're stuck in a never-ending loop. And don't even get me started on the pay - $52k is peanuts compared to what public servants are getting for doing similar work. I feel bad for these call centre workers, they deserve better than to be treated like dirt just because it's cheaper for companies to outsource. 🤕
