The sad truth is, these speakers have been collecting dust for years... I mean, who pays $600 for a speaker? Not me. At least Bose is being transparent about their intentions now, so we know what to expect when May 6th rolls around... Still, I gotta respect the move towards open-source - it's about giving people something they can work with, rather than just abandoning them...
I'm kinda relieved but also kinda bummed that my old SoundTouch speakers are getting axed. I mean, I love music and all, but the whole cloud support thing was just a hassle sometimes . It's cool that Bose is letting third-party devs step in and breathe new life into them though - who knows what crazy features they'll come up with? Still gonna be sad to see my speakers retire tho... think I might have to treat myself to an upgrade soon
so i was thinking like, yeah it makes sense why they would wanna ditch cloud support and just let devs create their own stuff... i mean who needs all that cloud connectivity anyway? but seriously, this open-source thing is a big deal for us SoundTouch owners who don't wanna upgrade to new speakers just yet. it's gonna be cool to see what kind of crazy features people come up with using the API docs!
ugh, sounds like Bose is basically giving up on these speakers . i mean, $600 when they first came out? that's crazy! but at least it makes sense now - the prices were way too high for what you got. so yeah, this open-source thing is kinda cool, but it's also just gonna make all the old features obsolete... anyone else gonna be getting a new set of speakers when their SoundTouch ones die?
I remember when speakers were just about sound quality... now they're like mini-computers . Bose is doing the right thing, sharing their secrets to let others breathe life into these old devices. It's about time someone took control of their own tech destiny . Those prices back in 2013? Whoa, that's insane . Guess you could say they learned from customers who weren't too thrilled with the initial price tag . Now, I'm curious to see what third-party devs come up with for these speakers... maybe some fresh new features .
