Brahim Díaz fires winner as Afcon hosts Morocco survive scare against Tanzania

Morocco's Morocco captain Brahim Diaz scores the winner in their 1-0 victory over Tanzania at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, sending them into the quarterfinals.

In a nervy encounter, Brahim Díaz came to the rescue for Morocco, netting his fourth goal for the national team and securing a place in the last eight with a narrow win. His strike on 64 minutes was a fine effort from a tight angle, after Achraf Hakimi had set him up on the right side of the box.

Despite dominating possession, Morocco were fortunate that Tanzania wastefully missed opportunities to cause an upset. Simon Msuva and Feisal Salum both had gilt-edged chances but failed to capitalize, with the latter's 10-meter shot blazing over the crossbar.

Morocco's performance was far from vintage, and they struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game. However, their win marked a turning point in their campaign, as coach Walid Regragui's side bounced back from a disappointing draw against their group stage opponents.

Brahim Díaz praised his team for "doing enough" to qualify for the next round, adding that they must now focus on preparing for the quarterfinals. His goal cemented Morocco's position at the top of the tournament table and sent them into the last eight with a thrilling 1-0 win over Tanzania.

As Morocco move forward to face Cameroon in the quarterfinals, fans will be eager to see their team perform at their best. The Indomitable Lions proved too strong for South Africa, however, securing a narrow 2-1 victory that sets them up for a potential Afcon final showdown.

🤩 can't believe morocco finally got their act together after that group stage mess! brahim diaz is the real hero here tho, what a finish from him 🎯💥 coach regragui's tactics were all over the place but somehow it worked out in the end. cameroon looks tough tho, hope morocco can bring their A-game for this one 😬

Man this Brahim Diaz is like a Messi-esque player but with more grit 😅. I mean, who else scores the winner from a tight angle and still looks all nonchalant? 🤣 The Tanzanian team was so close to causing an upset but just couldn't capitalize on those chances. It's like they were playing a high-stakes game of pool but kept missing their shots 🎱.

I remember watching Morocco play in the last Afcon, they got destroyed by Egypt and we all thought they wouldn't make it past the group stage 😳. But this win over Tanzania is like a breath of fresh air. Now I'm actually excited to see them take on Cameroon in the quarterfinals 🤩. Fingers crossed they can pull off a bigger upset this time around! 💪

Morocco's win over Tanzania was defo the most nerve-wracking match I've seen this tournament 🤯😬! Brahim Diaz came to life when it mattered most and his goal was pure class 💥. But let's be real, it wasn't exactly a dominant performance from Morocco 🙅‍♂️ they were lucky not to lose by more than one goal. Tanzania was wasteful in front of goal and you can't blame them for being frustrated 🤦‍♂️. The Indomitable Lions are looking strong, but Cameroon's going to be the real test for Morocco 🔥 they need to sort out their rhythm and they'll have a good shot at beating 'em 👊.

Ugh, what's next? Cameroon is gonna crush Morocco 😩. I mean, they did beat South Africa, which isn't bad, but it's not like they were expected to lose either 🤔. And now Brahim Diaz gets all the credit for winning a close game against Tanzania... yeah, right, like that's gonna matter in the quarterfinals 🙄. Those Tanzanians should've taken those chances when they had them 🤦‍♂️. Morocco's gonna struggle to win this one for sure 😓

omg what a game 🤯 brahim diaz is literally the man 👏 his goal was insane! i mean morocco didn't exactly have their best performance but they got the job done 🙌 and now they're moving on to the quarters which is super exciting for fans everywhere 🎉 Cameroon's gonna be tough tho, gotta keep an eye on that one 🔍

I'm so hyped for Morocco's win 🤩! Brahim Diaz is on fire 🔥 and his goal was pure magic ✨. I know they didn't play their best football, but they managed to get the job done which is what matters most right now 💪. They need to keep this momentum going though, can't have them dropping points in the next round 😅. Cameroon's gonna be tough, but I think Morocco's got this 💥! Let's see them bring home that Afcon title 🏆!

oh my gosh 😍 this is amazing!!! brahim diaz is literally the man 💪 his goal was so clutch and i'm dying over here 🤩 morocco's win sends shivers down my spine and now they're moving on to the quarterfinals with confidence 💯 can't wait to see what happens next in the tournament 🏆

🤔 just thinking about this game makes me wanna cheer for Morocco! Brahim Díaz is such a talented player 🏆 and his winning goal was insane 😲 I mean, Tanzania had some great chances too, but you can't win if you don't take 'em 💪. It's all good now tho, Morocco's in the quarterfinals and they're gonna give it their all against Cameroon 🇲🇦💥

I'm so over these underdog teams making a run in the tournament... like, Tanzania thought they had it in the bag against Morocco? Come on! Brahim Díaz is a beast! 😂 His goal was insane from that tight angle. And Morocco's coach, Walid Regragui, must be a genius or something because his team just bounces back after that draw. It's like they were stuck in neutral and suddenly shift into high gear 🚀. Now we gotta see if they can keep it up against Cameroon... that's gonna be a tough one 💪

omg what's with all the drama around brahim diz 🤯 this guy is just trying to do his thing on the pitch and yet everyone's still hating 😒 simon msuva had some serious gilt-edged chances goin' down but they didn't capitalize...tanzania just got unlucky, you feel? 💔 as for morocco, their performance was def not vintage but hey a win is a win 👏 and now they're movin on to the quarters with a bang 🎉 diz is all about keepin it humble though, talkin bout his team doin enough...we get it brah 😊

ooh 😱 what's going on with morocco's performance, they were so nervous and struggled to find their rhythm 🤯 like, coach regragui must be worried about how they're gonna prepare for the next round 💡 brahim diaz was on fire tho 🐈🔥 4 goals in this tournament is insane! 👀 but seriously, tanzania had so many chances to score and blew them all 😴 what's going on with simon msuva and feisal salum, they're like the ultimate missed opportunities duo 🤦‍♂️ anyway, morocco's 1-0 win over tanzania puts them at the top of the table, but are they ready for cameroon in the quarterfinals? 🤔

I gotta say, what's going on with this tournament? Morocco's win was all about one guy, Brahim Díaz, and let's be real, if he wasn't scoring goals, they'd probably be packing their bags right now. 🤯 I mean, it's great that they're through to the quarterfinals, but coach Regragui needs to figure out how to get his team on the same page.

And what about Tanzania? They had so many chances and blew them all, you feel me? It's like they didn't learn from their group stage games. 🤷‍♂️

This Cameroon squad is looking fierce though. They're gonna be tough opponents for Morocco, especially with that 2-1 win over South Africa. It's gonna be an intense quarterfinal match. Can Morocco keep it together and make a deep run in the tournament? We'll just have to wait and see... 🤔

I'm kinda surprised Morocco won so easily 🤔. I mean, Tanzania had some legit chances to score but just couldn't capitalize 😅. And let's be real, Morocco's performance wasn't exactly top-notch... they were lucky to win 1-0 🙄. But hey, a win is a win, and now they've got their sights set on the quarterfinals ⚽️. Brahim Diaz was clutch as always 💪, but I'm not sure if Tanzania's lack of finishing power was more of an issue than Morocco's dominance 😂. Anyways, it's gonna be interesting to see how Cameroon takes them down in the quarters 🤔.

😊 so morocco finally gets a win after that disappointing draw against south africa... i was on the edge of my seat watching this match 🤯 brahim diaz is a genius on the field, he's like a one-man army 🔥 his goal was pure magic! but at the same time, morocco's performance was pretty meh... they dominated possession but just couldn't seem to find their groove. 😐 and Tanzania had some gilt-edged chances that they squandered... ugh, it's like they were right there in front of the goal and then just missed 🤦‍♂️ still, a win is a win, and morocco's on to the quarterfinals! 🎉 now let's see if they can bring their A-game against cameroon 😅

😊 Morocco's win over Tanzania was definitely a nail-biter! Brahim Díaz is such a clutch player, and I'm loving how he's delivering for his team. 🙌 The pressure must've been on for the Moroccan squad after that group stage draw, but they managed to bounce back and seal their spot in the quarterfinals.

I mean, Tanzania had some huge chances, it was only a matter of time before one went in... sadly for them 😔. Feisal Salum's 10-meter shot was pure instinct, I love how he just took it straight at goal! 🤩 Achraf Hakimi's assist on the corner kick was great too, that's what sets him apart as a player.

Now, onto Cameroon in the quarterfinals... this is gonna be an interesting match. The Indomitable Lions are looking fierce, and if they can take it to the wire like they did against South Africa, I think Morocco will have their work cut out for them 🤔. Still excited to see how this tournament unfolds! 👏
