Breeze Airways Set to Take Flight Out of Atlantic City International Airport This May
Low-cost carrier Breeze Airways is expanding its operations with a new service out of the Atlantic City International Airport in May, becoming the third airline to offer year-round flights from the South Jersey airport. The Utah-based airline will introduce three new routes this year, providing travelers with more convenient access to popular destinations.
Starting May 6, nonstop flights to Charleston, South Carolina, will begin twice a week, while June 11 will see the introduction of nonstop flights to Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina. Additionally, Breeze Airways' BreezeThru service will also launch service to Tampa, Florida, on June 11.
According to Stephen F. Dougherty, executive director of the South Jersey Transportation Authority, "The new routes give travelers from the southern New Jersey/Philadelphia region a more convenient access to two popular and growing destinations, whether they are flying for business, visiting family, or enjoying a weekend getaway." This expansion is seen as a significant development for an airport of its size.
Breeze Airways will now join Spirit Airlines and Allegiant Air as the only carriers offering service out of Atlantic City International Airport. Spirit, which had previously offered service to the airport but reduced routes before filing for bankruptcy in 2024, still offers daily flights from Atlantic City, including routes to Florida destinations.
The airline's new arrivals are set to further increase options for travelers, with Allegiant Air launching nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale and other Florida airports later this year. The airport also boasts an American Airlines bus service connecting passengers to Philadelphia International Airport, allowing them to bypass TSA checkpoints in New Jersey.
Breeze Airways, which was founded in 2021 and now operates services to over 80 airports, is expanding its presence with a focus on growing destinations. According to founder and CEO David Neeleman, "Atlantic City is not only a great destination for travelers, but also a gateway to many other metro areas." Introductory one-way fares are available starting at $49 for flights to Charleston and $39 for Raleigh-Durham.
