Brooklyn man arrested in series of slashings, burglary and arson, police say

Man Arrested in Brutal Series of Attacks Across Brooklyn

A 27-year-old Brooklyn man, Odyssey Head, has been taken into custody in connection with a shocking series of slashings, burglaries, and arson incidents that left at least three people injured. The NYPD announced Monday that Head had been arrested and charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, menacing, and assault, following an investigation that linked him to the attacks.

According to authorities, Head was initially charged with arson for allegedly setting a fire in an apartment building in the Flatbush Gardens complex on Sunday morning. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. The police are still investigating whether Head had any connection to the building.

However, it's believed that Head is connected to at least three slashings that occurred over the weekend. One of the incidents took place on a northbound Q train as it approached the Cortelyou Road station on Saturday morning. A second slashing was reported late on Saturday night in the Foster and New York Avenue area. The most recent incident happened before 7 am on Sunday on Newkirk Avenue in East Flatbush, just two hours before Head allegedly set the fire at Flatbush Gardens.

The victims of the slashings - all men aged 37, 53, and 56 - suffered cuts to the left side of their faces. Miraculously, they were all taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. According to police, the attacks appeared to be random.

Head has been charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of menacing, and three counts of criminal weapons possession in connection with the attacks. He is also facing seven counts of assault, although it's unclear whether this charge relates to the slashings or separate incidents.

As his arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court was pending, Head was being held in the hospital for evaluation early Tuesday morning. The details of his lawyer were not immediately available.

🤔 I don't buy into all the fuss around these attacks. 27 is still young to be committing such violent acts. What's going on with our justice system that we're releasing a guy without even knowing his full story? 🤷‍♂️ Was he having some kind of mental breakdown or was this just a random string of crazy decisions? The fact that the attacks seem random doesn't mean there's no connection - maybe someone else saw something and is too scared to say anything. 💡 We need more than just arrests to keep our communities safe, we need to figure out what drives people to do these things... 🚨

Maniacs like that guy are so scary 🤯... i mean, how can someone be so violent and hurt people like that? 🤕 I'm glad the police caught him because it's really messed up what he did to those poor guys 😩. 3 slashes on their faces, that's just... wow. I don't even wanna think about how scary that must've been for them. Anyway, hope he gets some serious help and not just some slap on the wrist, you know? 🤦‍♂️ The system needs to make sure he doesn't hurt anyone else 👊

this is so sad and frustrating 🤕🚔 what's going on with people like odyssey head? why do they feel it's okay to hurt others just because they're in a random area? i mean, think about all the lives that were affected by these attacks... 3 people injured, 1 guy arrested... but there are still so many unanswered questions 🤔👮‍♂️

man... just another day in brooklyn 🤯, where's all this violence coming from? is it just a matter of someone having a bad day or something more deep-seated like a cry for help or maybe just plain old frustration? i mean, the fact that these attacks were random says a lot about the person who did them but also about society as a whole - are we so disconnected from each other that we can just lash out at strangers without consequences?

and what's with the timing of it all? like, head was arrested on monday morning, right when people were still trying to process the weekend's events. does that say anything about our mental health system or how we deal with trauma? we're always so quick to send people to therapy but is that really enough? do we need to start addressing the root causes of this stuff before we can even begin to heal?

anyway, just some random thoughts... 🤔

OMG 🤯, a 27-yr-old guy goes on this crazy rampage and now he's behind bars? I'm not buying into all the hype, tbh 🙄. Like, what's the real motive here? Was it just a case of random attacks or is there something more to it? The fact that they're still investigating whether he had anything to do with the building fire is already raising some red flags 🔥.

And can we talk about how the victims got lucky and weren't seriously hurt? Like, what if someone was seriously injured in those slashings? It's a miracle no one died 🙏. I'm not saying that the guy doesn't deserve to be locked up, but let's keep things in perspective here. This whole thing is just too suspicious for my taste 😒.

🤯 I mean, can you even believe what's going on in Brooklyn right now?! 😲 This guy, Odyssey Head, is allegedly responsible for a series of attacks that left 3 people with severe injuries - cuts to the face, no less! 🤕 And to make matters worse, there were multiple incidents, including arson, which could've easily led to more deaths or injuries. I'm just glad that everyone made it out alive... barely. 😩 The fact that these attacks seemed random is what's really unsettling. How can someone do this to innocent people?! 🤯 And now Head is being held in the hospital for evaluation? Like, what even is the point of holding him if he's not going to face real consequences? 🤷‍♀️ I just don't get it.

omg i just heard about this guy odyssey head he's like 27 years old and he's already doing time for some crazy stuff 😱 like slashes these 3 guys on a train and at different locations in brooklyn and also sets a fire in an apartment building can you even 🤯 i mean what's going through his mind? did someone hurt him or something? police are saying it was random but i'm not so sure...i've seen some crazy stuff in my day but this guy takes the cake like 3 people injured and now he's facing multiple counts of attempted murder and assault what's next? 🤯

🤕 This is crazy what's been going on in Brooklyn! You'd think that in a city as big and diverse as New York, we wouldn't have incidents like this happenin' every other day. I mean, three guys got slashed and barely made it out alive, and now some young dude is behind bars. It just doesn't add up why someone would do such a thing to innocent people... 😔 I feel bad for the victims who had to go through that trauma and their families who have to deal with it too. 🤝
