Man Arrested in Brutal Series of Attacks Across Brooklyn
A 27-year-old Brooklyn man, Odyssey Head, has been taken into custody in connection with a shocking series of slashings, burglaries, and arson incidents that left at least three people injured. The NYPD announced Monday that Head had been arrested and charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, menacing, and assault, following an investigation that linked him to the attacks.
According to authorities, Head was initially charged with arson for allegedly setting a fire in an apartment building in the Flatbush Gardens complex on Sunday morning. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. The police are still investigating whether Head had any connection to the building.
However, it's believed that Head is connected to at least three slashings that occurred over the weekend. One of the incidents took place on a northbound Q train as it approached the Cortelyou Road station on Saturday morning. A second slashing was reported late on Saturday night in the Foster and New York Avenue area. The most recent incident happened before 7 am on Sunday on Newkirk Avenue in East Flatbush, just two hours before Head allegedly set the fire at Flatbush Gardens.
The victims of the slashings - all men aged 37, 53, and 56 - suffered cuts to the left side of their faces. Miraculously, they were all taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. According to police, the attacks appeared to be random.
Head has been charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of menacing, and three counts of criminal weapons possession in connection with the attacks. He is also facing seven counts of assault, although it's unclear whether this charge relates to the slashings or separate incidents.
As his arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court was pending, Head was being held in the hospital for evaluation early Tuesday morning. The details of his lawyer were not immediately available.
