Celtic have reportedly made an initial inquiry to West Ham striker Callum Wilson, with the Scottish champions seeking to gauge his interest in joining them this transfer window. According to Sky Sports News, a number of clubs in England and Saudi Arabia are also showing interest in the 33-year-old.
Wilson has been struggling to find regular playing time at West Ham, having joined the club as a free agent after leaving Newcastle on a heavily incentivised contract just five months ago. The striker has scored four goals in 18 appearances for the Hammers, but it appears his future at the London club is uncertain.
The Celtic enquiries come as no surprise, given that the Scottish champions are in need of a striker to bolster their squad. Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has already made enquiries with several other targets, including Chelsea's David Datro Fofana and NK Celje's Franko Kovacevic.
It is worth noting that West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed that he had previously told Wilson that the striker was not part of his plans, citing the arrival of new signings Taty Castellanos and Pablo. However, the Portuguese boss also acknowledged that the decision to part ways with Wilson would ultimately be up to the player himself.
With Wilson's future at West Ham looking increasingly uncertain, it remains to be seen whether Celtic will succeed in their pursuit of the experienced striker.
