Camden County man pleads guilty after his girlfriend's body was found in a fridge in the woods

Local Man Guilty of Murdering Girlfriend in Shocking and Disturbing Discovery

In a bizarre and tragic case, Christopher Blevins, 46, has pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter after his girlfriend's body was found sealed inside a refrigerator in the woods of New Jersey. The shocking discovery was made in Belleplain State Forest in Cape May County just before Christmas.

According to authorities, Blevins had faced first-degree murder charges for the killing of Laura Hughes, 50. Her body, wrapped in a sleeping bag and bound with blue straps, was found inside the refrigerator in the forest, with her distinctive tattoos identified through various personal belongings left at the scene. A yoga mat and necklace were also discovered alongside her remains.

Blevins had entered into a guilty plea on Monday, after initially evading justice by fleeing to Mexico. However, he eventually turned himself over to authorities in Mexico City, stating that he may have been involved in a bar fight in Runnemede. Further investigation revealed his involvement with Hughes' death and that her body was dumped near the forest.

The case highlights a history of domestic abuse between Blevins and Hughes, which has left her family shattered. The two teenage daughters she had are now facing unimaginable grief following their mother's senseless murder.

Blevins is expected to face 17 years in state prison as part of his plea agreement. His sentencing hearing will take place on December 5, but the tragic circumstances surrounding Hughes' death have left many questioning how this gruesome crime could have unfolded in such a private and seemingly tranquil environment.

πŸ€• this is so messed up, i mean what kinda guy seals their girlfriend's body in a fridge in the woods? it's just so... disturbing 🌲 and the fact that he was avoiding justice in mexico city by making up some lame story about being in a bar fight? give me a break πŸ™„. domestic abuse is one thing but this is just taking it to a whole other level of twisted and sadistic. 😩

πŸ˜” This case is just so messed up 🀯. I mean, who does something like that to someone they're supposed to love? The fact that he was hiding it all these years, even faking a bar fight, is just sickening πŸ’”. And those poor daughters... they're going to have to live with this trauma for the rest of their lives πŸ€•. It's heartbreaking to see how domestic abuse can escalate into something like this. I don't know, man... 17 years in prison doesn't seem like enough considering what he did πŸ‘Ž. But at the same time, it's a guilty plea, so maybe it's better than going through trial and all that drama πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Anyway, it just goes to show how dark some people's hearts can be... πŸ’”

🀯 I mean, what's really shocking here is not that Blevins killed his girlfriend, but that he managed to keep it from everyone for so long. I know the dude had a history of domestic abuse, but still, 46 years old and you're just casually dumping your girlfriend's body in the woods? It's like he thought he was above the law or something πŸ™„. And let's not forget, this is a case where someone had to actually go searching for her body, that's how messed up things got. Can't help but feel like there were some red flags raised along the way and no one acted on them. Not saying anyone's at fault, just that it's gonna be interesting to see how Blevins' defense team spins this whole thing πŸ€”.

omg i cant even process this news 😱 it sounds like something straight out of a true crime novel. i mean who does that to someone? and the fact that he thought he could just flee to mexico thinking he could get away with it is wild. anyway its so sad for laura's family especially her two teenage daughters who have to deal with this trauma from such a young age πŸ€•. as for christopher blevins, 17 years in prison seems like a slap on the wrist considering how brutal the crime was. i think he should get a lot more than that 😑

this is just so messed up 🀯 like what even is going through someone's mind to kill their own girlfriend and leave her body in a fridge in the woods? it's like something out of a horror movie 🍿😱 and domestic abuse is already such a massive issue, i feel for laura's family πŸ˜” those poor teenage girls are gonna have to deal with this trauma for the rest of their lives πŸ’” 17 years might be better than life without parole, but it still feels like a long sentence πŸ‘Š

Life is full of surprises πŸ’”, but some are more shocking than others. It's like the saying goes: "The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable." 😩 This case is definitely one for the books – who would have thought that a cozy forest getaway could turn into a nightmare? 🌳😱

😱 I cant believe what's happenin with this dude 🀯 Christopher Blevins thought he could just get away with murder by flyin to Mexico but nope he got caught 🚫 I mean who puts their girlfriend's body in a fridge in the woods? That's straight outta horror movie πŸŽƒοΈ And what's even worse is that she was in a domestic abuse relationship, so this is just plain tragic πŸ˜” His daughters are gonna be sufferin for a long time πŸ€• 17 years in prison might seem like a good deal but I think he should be gettin more πŸ’―

omg 😱 like what even is goin on here?! Blevins was flyin under the radar for so long, it's crazy he got caught eventually. i mean i feel bad for his victims fam πŸ€• 17 yrs is still 17 yrs but at least this way he can't hurt anyone else i guess?
idk man, how does somethin that calm & peaceful like a forest end up bein the scene of murder?! it's just so... shocking πŸ’€
ugh, and those poor teenage daughters πŸ€— they must be losin their minds right now. my heart goes out to them πŸ€—
