Chatsworth estate in Derbyshire opens a new family-friendly hotel

Chatsworth Estate's New Family-Friendly Hotel Offers Affordable Luxury in the Peak District

As you approach the grand entrance of Chatsworth House, a stunning limestone edifice set amidst rolling hills and parkland, it's impossible not to feel a sense of awe. This is more than just a historic mansion – it's an entire estate with over 450 years of history and a legacy that continues to shape its present.

The latest addition to the Chatsworth family is The Hide hotel, a newly refurbished, family-friendly haven nestled on the A619 road from Chesterfield to Bakewell. This charming retreat has been reimagined as an affordable alternative to pricier accommodation in the estate's portfolio, with doubles starting at £80 a night and bunk rooms sleeping two adults and two children from £125, both room-only.

Upon arrival, we settled into our family-friendly bunk room, complete with built-in cabin bunks, soft woollen blankets, and modern artwork from the Cavendish family's private collection. A warm welcome awaited us at The Hide Grill and Pizzeria, where we indulged in a delicious campfire-inspired meal designed for sharing, cooked over an open flame.

The Hide offers many perks, including access to unlimited visits to Chatsworth House and grounds, direct entry to the 14,000 hectares of parkland, bike and boot wash stations, cycle storage, and an outdoor dog bath. A convenient bus service connects the hotel to Chesterfield, making it an ideal base for exploring the Peak District National Park.

During our stay, we had the privilege of taking a private tour of Chatsworth House, guided by Martin, who regaled us with fascinating facts about 17 generations of Cavendish families. The tour revealed hidden treasures such as the beautifully restored Painted Hall, State Rooms, chapel, library, and Sculpture Gallery.

What sets The Hide apart is its commitment to bringing the estate's history to life through everyday details. Martin shared stories about the house being used as a girls' boarding school during WWII, and the discovery of Cadbury's chocolate wrappers from the 1930s behind an old tapestry in the State Drawing Room. These touches give guests a deeper connection to the place and its storied past.

The Hide offers the perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and affordability for families looking to explore the Peak District National Park. With rates starting at £80 a night for doubles and bunk rooms sleeping two adults and two children from £125, it's an unbeatable value proposition that invites you to experience all that Chatsworth Estate has to offer.

I'm thinking of staying at The Hide hotel soon 🤔🏠. They've got family-friendly rooms with built-in bunk beds - perfect for road trips with the kids! 🚗👧. It's also super affordable, £80 a night is like a steal compared to other hotels in the area 💸.

And I love how they're bringing Chatsworth House's history to life through little details like that WWII story and Cadbury's wrappers 🤯. That kind of stuff makes me want to explore the estate even more! 🏞️

I'm also stoked about the outdoor dog bath - my pup would freak out if we could take them on a hike together in the 14,000 hectares of parkland 🐶💨.

The Hide's got it all: comfy rooms, delicious food (I'm craving that campfire-inspired meal now!), and access to tons of activities like bike rentals and guided tours 🚴‍♀️🔍. It's like they're giving us the best of both worlds - luxury and affordability! 💖

I gotta say, this new hotel sounds super promising 😊. Affordable luxury is exactly what families need when they're exploring the Peak District National Park. The fact that you get unlimited visits to Chatsworth House and grounds is a huge bonus - it's like having a private tour every time! 🚶‍♀️ And I love the campfire-inspired meal at The Hide Grill and Pizzeria, who wouldn't want to enjoy a delicious meal cooked over an open flame? 🔥

But what really gets me is how they've managed to bring the estate's history to life through everyday details. It's amazing how something as simple as a hidden treasure behind a tapestry can transport you back in time 🕰️. And I'm all for supporting local businesses, so it's awesome that this hotel offers direct entry to 14,000 hectares of parkland.

One thing I'd like to see is some more kid-friendly activities and entertainment options at the hotel - maybe a game room or outdoor play area? That would take The Hide from great to exceptional 😊. Still, overall I'm excited about this new addition to Chatsworth Estate and can't wait to try it out for myself! 📚

I'm not sure about this new hotel in the Peak District... sounds like a pretty sweet deal if you're into history and being surrounded by countryside 🤔. £80 a night for a family-friendly room with access to all these awesome perks? That's either super affordable or way too good to be true. I'd need to see some financials before I start booking my fam there 📊. How does the hotel plan on making up those low prices? Are they sacrificing profit margins or what?

I gotta say, I'm loving this new hotel The Hide at Chatsworth Estate! It's like they took a normal hotel room and added all the magic of being on a massive estate with tons of history 🏰💫. Starting from £80 a night for doubles? That's insane affordable luxury 💸👌. And having access to all those perks like visiting Chatsworth House, bike storage, and outdoor dog baths? Game changer 🚴‍♀️🐶.

I also loved the little touches they added to make it feel more like you're experiencing history firsthand. Like, discovering old Cadbury's wrappers behind a tapestry? Mind blown 😱. It makes you feel like you're really getting a glimpse into the lives of the Cavendish families who used to live there.

The best part is that it's not just fancy and expensive, but actually family-friendly too 🌈👪. So if you're planning a trip to the Peak District with your kiddos, this place is literally the perfect spot for them (and you!) 😊. 10/10 would recommend 💯!

I think The Hide is gonna be super popular with families 🤩! Who wouldn't want to stay in a luxurious hotel within walking distance of a historic mansion? It's like having the best of both worlds, right? And at those prices (£80+ for doubles and £125 for bunk rooms), it's a total steal. I'd take my own kiddos there ASAP 👧🏻👦

🌳 I think The Hide hotel is super cool! They're making the Peak District more accessible to families without breaking the bank 💸. The family-friendly bunk rooms are genius 🤩, and having access to unlimited visits to Chatsworth House and grounds is a total game-changer 🏞️. Plus, being able to cycle into the park and use their bike storage is a dream come true for outdoor enthusiasts 🚴‍♀️. It's great that they're bringing the history of the estate to life through little details like the WWII girls' boarding school story - it makes you feel like you're really part of it! 👍

🌳 I think what really sets The Hide apart is its dedication to preserving the history and legacy of Chatsworth House while still offering a family-friendly atmosphere 🤝. It's genius how they've woven together everyday details to create an immersive experience for guests, making you feel like you're truly part of the estate's story 📚. And let's be real, who wouldn't want to stay in a hotel with access to 14,000 hectares of parkland and unlimited visits to the stunning Chatsworth House? 😍 The prices are also super reasonable considering the quality of accommodation and experiences on offer 👌

It's wild how sometimes we gotta pay to play, but in this case, The Hide hotel is making luxury accessible to everyone 🤑👪. What I love about this new addition is it's not just about charging a pretty penny, it's about giving families the chance to connect with history and nature at an affordable price tag 💚.

Think about it, when we're willing to spend money on experiences that enrich our lives, we're actually investing in ourselves and our loved ones 🤝. The Hide hotel is doing just that by providing a welcoming space for families to create memories that'll last a lifetime 📚. It's a lesson in the value of community and making quality time with others count 💕.

I don’t usually comment but I think The Hide hotel is a total game changer for families visiting the Peak District 🤩. I mean, who wouldn't want to stay in a historic mansion with unlimited access to Chatsworth House and grounds? And the fact that it's affordable luxury is just perfect for those looking to explore the national park without breaking the bank 💸.

The attention to detail is also really impressive - from the soft woollen blankets to the modern artwork, it's clear that The Hide is trying to bring the estate's history to life in a way that feels really welcoming and inclusive 👍. And can we talk about the private tours of Chatsworth House? That sounds like an absolute dream come true for any history buff or family looking for a unique experience 🏰.

I don’t usually stay in hotels, but if I were to plan a trip to the Peak District with my own kids, The Hide would definitely be at the top of my list 💕.

I'm not sure I'd go all in on this new hotel just yet 🤔... 450 years of history is nice and all, but do we really need a fancy hotel with a price tag to match? The rooms might be comfy and the family-friendly vibes are great, but £80 a night for doubles seems like way too much cash just for a room that's basically a glorified bunk bed 🛏️. And don't even get me started on the 'delicious campfire-inspired meal' - I'm sure it's just a fancy name for 'we threw some burgers on the grill and hoped for the best' 😂. Give me the great outdoors any day, no need to pay top dollar for a hotel stay when you can be camping out in the park like I do 🏕️

omg just read about The Hide hotel @ Chatsworth Estate & I'm dyin 2 go!! 🤩£80 a night for a family-friendly hotel in the Peak District? That's like, super affordable! And the fact that they're opening up the whole estate to guests is just genius. Can't wait to explore all the historic rooms and grounds with my fam 👪🏻🌳

meh, another hotel popping up in the peak district 🤔... think its gonna get crowded with tourists now. £80 a night for a bunk room? thats just expensive camping 🏕️. dont get me wrong, the history of chatsworth house is cool and all, but i'm not sure how much more i wanna pay to stay there... also, have they thought about the environmental impact of having that many people traipsing around the estate? a little too convenient for the devs if you ask me 😒
