Did you solve it? Two dead at the drink-off – a brilliant new lateral thinking puzzle

A Royal Ruse: The Lateral Thinking Puzzle Behind the Queen's Ceremonial Death

In a shocking turn of events, two individuals were found dead at a royal ceremony, sparking an outpouring of confusion and intrigue. As it turns out, both Smith and Jones brought what appeared to be their strongest poison to the gathering – water. This may seem like a brazen move, but the truth behind this bizarre action reveals a cleverly crafted lateral thinking puzzle.

The scenario begins with two manufacturers of poison, Smith and Jones, each producing multiple types of poisons with varying strengths. The Queen summons both men, instructing them to bring a vial of their own poison to a ceremony where they will first share a swig from the other's vial, followed by their own. This seemingly straightforward task is actually a test of their wits.

The critical piece of information lies in the fact that each person can only bring one type of poison and cannot access the other's poisons. With this knowledge, Smith, hoping to gain an advantage, brings what he believes to be his weakest poison – water – with the intention of having Jones' strongest poison cure him if Jones chooses not to reveal his own poison.

Jones, anticipating a similar move from Smith, has done the same: bringing water as his poison. The result is both individuals succumbing to poisoning within an hour. The Royal Coroner confirmed their deaths due to "poisoning," but in reality, it was water that proved fatal, as each person ingested the other's water and then their own.

This clever puzzle showcases the complexities of human thought processes and how our minds can be tricked into making incorrect assumptions. It also highlights the importance of critical thinking and evaluating information before acting on it.

The origins of this puzzle date back to the 1980s, created by Michael Rabin, with recent attention brought to it by mathematician Timothy Chow. The puzzle remains a testament to the power of lateral thinking and the ingenuity of those who conceive such cleverly designed brain teasers.

omg what a wild scenario 🤯👑 I mean can u imagine being in that situation?

So basically both guys bring water which is like super weak poison and they think the other guy's "strongest" will save them lol . It makes sense now how they ended up dying from water poisoning though .

I love how this puzzle showcases how our brains can play tricks on us , it's like a masterclass in critical thinking 🤓. We gotta be careful what we assume and not jump to conclusions

Stats show that lateral thinking puzzles have been a hit among math enthusiasts since the 1980s 📊👍 With 74% of participants able to solve the puzzle within 10 minutes , it's clear this one is a classic ! 🎉

I'm curious what other mind-bending puzzles are out there for us to crack . Who's up for another challenge? 💡

🤔 So what do u think about this whole royal ruse thing? 🎭 I mean, it's pretty crazy that two people thought they were getting away with poisoning the Queen and ended up poisoning themselves instead 😂. The lateral thinking puzzle is genius, though - it's like, why didn't they realize that if one of them brought water as their poison, they'd still die from drinking the other person's water? 🤷‍♀️ It just goes to show how easily our minds can play tricks on us and we need to stay sharp. 💡

I'm like "what even is going on here?" This royal ruse thingy just blows my mind 🤯, I mean what's next? Bringing a ladder to the party? It's all about lateral thinking and how our brains can get tricked into making mistakes, you know? Like, who tries to cure poison with water? 😂 It's like they wanted to die. This puzzle is so cleverly designed it's almost...impossible not to fall for it 🤪.

Wow 😮 this is crazy how they both ended up dying from water, it's like they were playing into each other's hands and didn't even realize it at first 🤯 Interesting that it was just a clever lateral thinking puzzle and not actual poison 👀

🤔 I'm not buying this "clever puzzle" story at all... it just sounds like two idiots trying to kill each other with water 💧😂 what a waste of time and resources. Like, who in their right mind brings water to a poison party? 🚽 And the Queen's involved? That just reeks of a setup... I'd be surprised if this wasn't some elaborate prank gone wrong. And what about all the "critical thinking" nonsense? If you can't even figure out that it's water poisoning, how do you expect to solve anything else? 🤦‍♂️ The whole thing just feels like a big letdown to me 😐

🤯 I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing... So basically, two people think they're bringing their strongest poison, but really it's just water? It's like a masterclass in misdirection. I mean, can you even blame them for not thinking outside the box and assuming everyone else would do the same?

It's actually pretty fascinating from an analytical standpoint – Smith and Jones are essentially playing each other's game, trying to outsmart the other by bringing what they think is their weakest poison. But of course, that just backfires because they're both getting killed off by water.

I've been thinking about this puzzle a lot, and I'm still not sure how I would react in the same situation. It's definitely making me think more critically about my problem-solving skills and how to approach complex situations like this one. 🤔

omg u guys i just read about this crazy royal ruse that went down at this ceremony where these two ppl were found dead 🤯 they each brought water as their poison like what were they thinkin lol but the thing is its not that simple the queen told them to share a swig from each other's vial then do their own and the puzzle is that u can only bring one type of poison and cant access the other ones so smith brings his weakest poison (water) hoping jones wont wanna save him and jones does the same thing 🤷‍♀️ its all about how our brains process info and making incorrect assumptions 👀

OMG, can u believe this?! 🤯 It's like, how did they even fall for it? 😂 They brought water, like literally H2O! 💧 The Queen's ceremony turned into a deadly game of "poison" – but it was all just a big misunderstanding! 🤔 The puzzle mastermind behind this is genius, btw. I mean, who else can make you think you're getting rid of your poison by sharing the other guy's? 😂 It's like, lateral thinking on steroids! 💡 This whole thing is actually kinda fascinating, imo. Did u know it was created back in the 80s by Michael Rabin? 🤓 The brain behind this puzzle, Timothy Chow, must've been a total genius to come up with this! 🧠 It's like, don't trust what ur instincts tell u, think critically, fam! 💯 #LateralThinkingPuzzle #BrainTeaser #WaterYouWaitingFor

OMG u guys I'm literally shook rn 😱💀 about this royal ruse & how both Smith & Jones got POISONED by WATER 🤯🌊! I mean who does that? 🤔 It's like they thought they were outsmarting each other but NOPE 👎. This puzzle is SO clever tho, it makes u think like "wait a minute, why would they do that?" 🤷‍♀️ And then u realize it's all about the water 🌊. Anyone else have a favorite lateral thinking puzzle? 🤔💡 #LateralThinkingPuzzle #PoisonousWater #MindBlown

omg this is wild 🤯 like what even is going on here? so basically the Queen is trying to figure out if someone is trying to poison her and she's making them bring their "poison" but it turns out it's just water lol what a clever move by Michael Rabin tho, I mean I was totally fooled too when I first heard about this. and can we talk about how Jones' plan is basically the same as Smith's? like did he not even think that one through? 🤔 anyway, it's actually kinda cool to see how our brains can get tricked into making mistakes. gotta keep my thinking hat on 💡

I don't get why they would do that... I mean, if both are just gonna bring water, then what's the point? 🤔 It's like, you'd think they'd try to outsmart each other or something. But I guess it goes to show how people can be tricked into making silly decisions. And yeah, it's kinda cool that it was a puzzle and not actual poison or anything... but still, two people dead? That's pretty sad 😔

🤔 this royal ruse thingy is wild 🌊 so people brought water as poison? that's like bringing a fire extinguisher to a BBQ 🍖️ and expecting it to save the day 💦 anyway what's crazy is how they both tried to outsmart each other and ended up killing themselves 🙈 critical thinking 101, folks! 📚 gotta make sure you're evaluating info before acting on it, or else you might end up like smith and jones... dead 🤖

OMG YOU GUYS THIS IS LIKE THE MOST BRILLIANT THING I'VE EVER HEARD 🤯! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT WATER COULD BE THE DEADLY POISON HERE?! IT'S LIKE, SMITH AND JONES WERE BOTH SO CLEVER IN THEIR OWN WAY BUT ALSO SUPER GULLIBLE 😂. AND NOW WE GET TO THINK ABOUT HOW THEY GOT TAKEN IN BY EACH OTHER AND HOW WE CAN LEARN FROM THIS MISTAKE 🤔. IT JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT LATERAL THINKING IS SO IMPORTANT, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO Figuring Out SITUATIONS LIKE THIS BEFORE ACTING ON THEM 💡. ANYWAY, KUDOS TO MICHAEL RABIN FOR CREATING THIS GENIUS PUZZLE IN THE 80s!

😬 this is just great news... two people died at a royal ceremony because they both brought water as poison 🤯 can't believe how stupid we are when it comes to thinking things through 🙄 and someone finally figured out that water isn't poisonous lol what's next? some kid gonna die because they drank a soda thinking it was water 😂 anyway, i guess this is just another example of how our brains can be tricked into making bad decisions 🤦‍♀️

🤔👑 So basically what happened was two guys bring water 🌊 to this royal thingy and both end up dying 💀 because they thought the other guy's water would kill them... meanwhile their own is super poisonous 🐍 but you can't use it because they're stuck with just one vial of water each. It's like a crazy game of cat and mouse where everyone loses 😂

I gotta say, I love how cleverly designed this puzzle is. It makes me think about how often we make assumptions without really checking the facts 🤓. Like, if you're gonna bring water to a poison tasting party, maybe double-check that it's actually poisonous 😅.

It's also kinda sad that two people died because of a game... 🙏 I guess that's the price you pay for being clever and trying to outsmart others 🤔. Anyway, this puzzle is definitely food for thought 💡.

I'm so surprised that two people died at this fancy ceremony because they drank water that was labeled as poison 🤣 I mean, what a genius move by Smith and Jones to bring their weakest poison – water! Can't imagine how cleverly they thought it through... NOT 🙄 This whole thing just reeks of overthinking, in my humble opinion. Why bother with all this fancy puzzle nonsense? Just drink the water like a normal person, no big deal 💦 And by the way, who thought it was a good idea to have two people sharing a swig from each other's vial at a ceremony that started out with "let's poison ourselves"? Sounds like a recipe for disaster... or just plain silly 🤪

This is wild 🤯, imagine two people dying at a royal ceremony because they both brought water 🌊👀, I mean what's next? They must've been really desperate to think outside the box 💡 or just totally lost it 😂, either way this puzzle showcases how easily our brains can get tricked into thinking we're making smart moves when really we're not 🤦‍♂️.

Ugh, I just got out of that online royal ceremony stream 🤯 and I'm still trying to wrap my head around this "poison" thing... Like, come on guys, water is toxic in large amounts 🚽. Can't they see that bringing water as a "poison" is basically asking for trouble? 😂 And then they go and drink each other's poison (water) thinking it'll cure them? 🤦‍♂️ This whole thing just feels like a big mess, you know? The least they could do is make the puzzle more challenging, not water. Water doesn't even require an answer, that's literally the definition of a non-puzzle 🙄.
