‘Dilbert’ creator Scott Adams in hospice with only days left to live: ex-wife

Comedian, Cartoonist Scott Adams' Prostate Cancer Battle Takes a Tragic Turn as Ex-Wife Reveals He's in Hospice Care

Scott Adams, 68-year-old creator of the iconic comic strip "Dilbert," is reportedly running out of time due to his battle with prostate cancer. According to his ex-wife, Shelly Miles, Adams has been receiving end-of-life care at his Northern California home, where he will spend his final days surrounded by loved ones.

Miles revealed in an interview that Adams' health took a rapid decline last week and that nurses have been visiting him around the clock. However, she claims that Adams is still doing what he loves – working on new comics – despite his worsening condition.

The news comes as a shock to fans, who were unaware of Adams' deteriorating health until now. In May 2025, Adams announced his metastatic prostate cancer diagnosis and explained how the cancer had progressed to Stage 4, spreading to his bones. He also shared his concerns about not recovering from the illness, stating that he would keep working as long as it makes sense.

Adams' battle with cancer has been a closely watched affair in recent months, with fans expressing their support for him on social media. However, his diagnosis was marred by controversy when he made racist remarks during a podcast appearance earlier last year. Despite the backlash, Adams continued to promote his cartoon and host his podcast.

In a heart-wrenching update, Adams told listeners that the odds of recovery were essentially zero and that he would likely spend January as a month of transition. He also expressed interest in world events but emphasized that his health was his top priority.

As the clock ticks down for Scott Adams, fans are taking to social media to pay their respects and offer support. The cartoonist's legacy will be remembered through his iconic work, which continues to entertain and inspire audiences worldwide.

I love how he's still doing what he loves, working on new comics despite his declining health 💻. that takes a lot of courage & strength. I've seen all the racist comments from fans/ followers who want him to apologize & take them down a peg, but let's be real, SCOTT'S STILL CREATING AND WE LOVE HIM FOR IT 🙌💕

But what's even more inspiring is that he's still creating new comics, even though he knows the odds of recovery are low 💔. He's such an icon and a true artist... I'm just hoping he gets to spend some quality time with his loved ones as his body weakens up ⏰. Can't help but feel a little grateful for all the amazing work he's given us over the years 🙏💕

😔 This is devastating news 🤕. I've been a huge fan of Dilbert since I was in college, and it's hard to think about Scott Adams not being able to create more comics for us 😢. His dedication to his work even when faced with this terrible disease is really inspiring 🙏. It's crazy how he's still working on new stuff despite everything... I guess that's what makes him so special ❤️. The controversy a few years back didn't sit well with me, but it's clear that it hasn't stopped him from doing what he loves 🎨. Fans like us need to be here for him during his final days – sending all our love and positive vibes 🌈.
