Disney wants you to AI-generate yourself into your favorite Marvel movie

Disney is set to revolutionize the world of AI-generated content with its latest partnership with OpenAI, the creators of the popular ChatGPT platform. The deal allows users to generate videos featuring their own likenesses alongside iconic characters from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel films.

The Sora video generation app, which has faced criticism for generating unauthorized copyrighted material in the past, will now be able to produce clips that include over 200 licensed Disney characters, thanks to a massive $1 billion investment from the media giant. These fan-inspired videos could take the form of "Sora short form videos" – essentially AI-generated versions of photos or short scenes featuring beloved characters.

While some have expressed concerns about the impact of AI on the creative industries, Disney's CEO Bob Iger is optimistic about the potential for this technology to empower fans and inspire new forms of creativity. The company plans to use its vast library of intellectual property to create immersive experiences that blur the lines between reality and fantasy.

Under the licensing agreement, Sora users will be able to generate videos featuring their own likenesses alongside characters from Disney's extensive catalog, including R2-D2, Stitch, and Iron Man. Some of these videos may even find their way onto the Disney+ streaming service, where they can compete with popular social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

While the terms of the deal do not cover talent likenesses or voices, it remains to be seen how this technology will shape the future of entertainment and content creation. One thing is certain, however – with Disney's backing, Sora has the potential to become a major player in the world of AI-generated content, and its impact on popular culture may be felt for years to come.

🤔 so they're basically gonna make more vids of me as iron man or something... I mean, at least it's not like I'd have any control over how my likeness is used 🙃 anyway, I guess it's cool that fans can finally get their dream videos made, but also kinda sad that the AI's gonna do all the work while we just chill in the background 😒 and what's up with the $1b investment? is disney just trying to distract us from the fact that they're still making terrible movies 🎥👀

omg I'm so hyped about this collab!!! 💥 it's going to take AI to the next level 🚀 imagine being able to create your own vids with characters from disney & marvel - it's like a dream come true 🤩 plus think of all the awesome fan art that can be made with this tech 🎨💻 I know some ppl might be worried about the future of content creators, but I think this is just another way for fans to express themselves and get creative 🌟

I'm not sure I'm totally sold on this deal 🤔. On one hand, it's pretty cool that people will be able to create their own vids with Disney characters - it's like a dream come true for some fans! But on the other hand, isn't there a risk that these AI-generated vids could end up getting shared online and causing copyright issues? Like, what if someone uses R2-D2 or Iron Man without permission? The fact that Sora users can only make vids with licensed Disney characters is good, but I'm still worried about how this tech will play out in the long run 📺.

This is gonna be super cheesy. Like, can you even imagine watching a video of yourself as Iron Man flying around or hanging out with R2-D2? It's just too much. And don't even get me started on the fact that they're using $1 billion of Disney's money to make this happen... it's like they're trying to suck up all the creativity for their own gain. I mean, what's next? AI-generated Mickey Mouse cartoons or something 🤪

🤔 I'm kinda excited about this but also super curious how it'll all play out 🤑 They're basically gonna make a whole new kind of fan art on steroids... like, can you imagine seeing yourself with Stormtroopers from Star Wars? 😂 It's wild that Disney is putting their money and resources into making AI-generated content more accessible to the masses. I'm not sure if it'll be good or bad for people who work in the creative industries, but I guess only time will tell 🕰️
