Dutch centrists D66 back in lead in election vote count, edging past far-right PVV – as it happened

The article discusses the outcome of the Dutch parliamentary election, which took place on October 30, 2025. The far-right PVV party of anti-immigration firebrand Geert Wilders narrowly ahead of the centrist D66 with 99.6% votes counted, but the difference between the two parties is just under 1,400 votes, and many more are still yet to be counted.

The article states that while it symbolically matters whether PVV or D66 will come out on top, it seems that the centrist party with their charismatic leader, Rob Jetten, who will likely lead the talks to form the next government, with Wilders going back to the opposition.

All major mainstream parties have ruled out governing with Wilders after he brought down the last coalition led by his PVV. This does not mean that the coalition talks will be any easier and are widely expected to take months before the new administration emerges.

The outgoing prime minister, Dick Schoof, said yesterday he hoped they would be wrapped up by August next year, as he wants to run a marathon in Sydney, which can be seen as a deadline of sorts.

lol what's with all these tight elections? i mean, it's not the end of the world that the centrist party won't form the gov... it's actually kinda cool that they're gonna lead the talks 🤔 and try to bring everyone together. Wilders is still an interesting guy tho, always keeping things spicy 😂. I think he's just trying to stir up some change, even if it means going back to opposition. Who knows, maybe next time he'll be the one leading the gov? 🤷‍♀️ anyway, it's all good vibes for the Netherlands, and i'm sure they'll figure out a way to make this new gov work 💪

Man, this Dutch election is wild 🤯. I'm all for the centrist party winning, Rob Jetten seems like a solid leader and all, but it's crazy that PVV almost took the lead. 1,400 votes difference is nothing, right? Still gotta count those last votes though. It's good to hear Wilders is back on the opposition side tho, maybe some of his radical ideas will die down 🤞. Can't wait for coalition talks, fingers crossed they don't drag on forever 😩. A marathon in Sydney by August? Dude's got spirit!

I feel like PVV won this time but I dont think its gonna make a difference lol what does Wilders plan on doing now after failing to form govt again? is it possible for him to regroup and come back stronger or will he just fade away 🤔

I'm so glad it's PVV that came out on top... just kidding sorta 🤣. But seriously, I think it's kinda interesting how the centrist party is going to lead the talks and try to form the next government. I mean, they're not as polarizing as Wilders and all that. I wonder if Rob Jetten has what it takes to keep everyone happy and on board 🤔. And I love how Schoof's trying to put a deadline on this whole thing so he can get back to his running... I mean, training 🏃‍♂️. Can you imagine having to run 42km while politicians are still bickering? 😂 Either way, I'm just glad it's all gonna settle down soon and we don't have to think about Dutch politics for a little while 👍.

I gotta say, this election result is kinda surprising 🤔. I mean, people were saying that Wilders was done for good after his last coalition collapse, but I guess PVV still has some life left in 'em 😮. The thing that really got me though is how much it matters who's leading the talks to form the new government - Rob Jetten seems like a nice guy, and he's gotta be pretty charismatic to take on Wilders' tantrums 🙄. Still, I'm not too optimistic about these coalition talks going anywhere anytime soon 🕰️. It'll be months before we get some actual progress, and that's just based on past form 👀

Interesting... it looks like the Dutch politics are going to get even more intense now 😬. I wonder how long it'll take for them to form the new government... months, huh? 🤔 August next year is like, a pretty tight deadline for Schoof if he's actually planning on running a marathon in Sydney 🏃‍♂️

🤔 It's kinda weird that PVV is winning this election despite being super polarizing... I mean, Geert Wilders has a reputation for stirring up trouble 🚨, and now he's the one trying to form the government 😬. The centrist D66 is all about compromise and finding common ground, which makes it pretty ironic that they're getting beat out by Wilders' party 💥. Rob Jetten's charisma might just be enough to guide his party through these tumultuous talks 🤞. I'm also curious to see what this means for the Netherlands – will the PVV's anti-immigration stance continue to dominate the conversation? 🌎

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this election outcome 🤯. It's crazy how close it was between the PVV and D66! I mean, 1,400 votes is a huge difference, but at the same time, you never know what's going to happen when all those last-minute votes come in 🤔. I'm so glad Rob Jetten from D66 is going to lead the talks, he seems like such a calm and collected leader 😌. And wow, Dick Schoof wants to run a marathon in Sydney next year? That's dedication! 💨

🤔 This is gonna be a wild ride! I mean, who expects the far-right to take the lead? Geert Wilders and his PVV party are not exactly known for being all about unity... 🌎 Still, Rob Jetten's got charisma on his side, so maybe that'll help bring things together. August deadline? Good luck with that, Dick Schoof! You're gonna need it to stay in shape while trying to govern 😅

🤔 what's going on with Netherlands politics tho? like it's super close and stuff, i feel like we'll see another coalition form eventually 📊 but honestly, who knows what August 2026 holds right? 🕰️

I'm not surprised about PVV's narrow win 🤔. The Dutch have shown time and again that they're willing to take risks and challenge the status quo. Geert Wilders' brand of populism still resonates with many folks, even if it's not always easy to stomach 😬. But what's interesting is how this result might affect the EU as a whole - will the Netherlands be more or less willing to cooperate on migration and other issues? It's also a shame that Rob Jetten won't get his chance at leading the country 🤦‍♂️, but D66 still looks like they've got some great policies in store for the next go-round 💡.

OMG, 1k votes makes all the diff right? Like if D66 had just taken those last few thou, it'd be them leading now 🤷‍♂️ But Wilders is still gonna try and make a comeback I feel like he's been in this game too long for it to end now 💪 Anyway, talk of coalition talks taking months is kinda expected though, these Dutch politics can get pretty messy 🔄

So PVV won this round but it's like getting second place at the party – you still get invited to the after-party! Wilders going back to opposition is a good thing for everyone, I guess, except for those who live near him. Anyway, Rob Jetten's leadership skills are being put to the test, and I hope he doesn't trip over his own feet in these coalition talks. August deadline? That's cute, Dick Schoof wants to run a marathon and set a goal, not exactly the most pressing issue at hand 🏃‍♂️💨

I just got back from the most amazing coffee shop near my place and they have the best cappuccino ever 🤩. I was thinking about getting one before I started reading this article, but then I remembered I need to pick up some milk for my friend's birthday cake 🎂. Anyway, back to the Dutch election... it's kinda interesting how politics can be so intense, you know? Reminds me of that one time I went skydiving with my friends and we all screamed at the same time 😱. Focuses the mind, right?

I'm kinda surprised that D66 didn't do better with Rob Jetten at the helm - the guy's got charisma for days! 🤩 Still, it's all about who can form the most stable gov't, and I think the talks are gonna be super tricky with Wilders' party being so polarizing. Don't wanna speculate on how long it'll take to sort everything out, but a few months feels like a decent estimate...

So it's like, Geert Wilders and his PVV party are still super popular, but not enough to actually get more seats than D66... kinda weird right? I mean, the difference is only 1,400 votes, so who knows what will happen when all those last votes get counted. It's all pretty drama-filled, especially since no one wants to work with Wilders because he did some stuff that was pretty divisive in the past.

It seems like D66's Rob Jetten might be a nice guy to work with and they're more likely to form a government... but we'll see! The whole thing is kinda complicated and it's gonna take months, which I'm sure won't exactly make Wilders happy. He's already gone back to the opposition, so fingers crossed for D66 🤞

so like, I don't even know what's more surprising here... the fact that PVV is leading or that D66 is still in the game 😂. 1,400 votes makes all the difference, right? It's crazy how much that can swing things around. And Rob Jetten's charisma isn't just a bonus for his party, it's like, a superpower or something 💫. I mean, who else could make you wanna vote for them when they're so likable? Anyway, I'm guessing coalition talks are gonna be the norm here... months and months of backroom deals and whatnot 🤯. And can we just talk about Dick Schoof's sense of humor with that Sydney marathon thing? Like, is he serious or something?

🤔 so i think its weird how politics works in holland, the far-right party is winning but its not like they're gonna form a government right away... theres still like 1400 votes left and robbie jetten from d66 is the one who's supposed to lead the talks, that kinda makes more sense, because wilders would just be causing drama again. 🤷‍♂️

Ugh, I'm still trying to wrap my head around this election outcome 🤯. I mean, 1,400 votes is pretty much nothing considering the size of our country, and now PVV's gonna get a second chance? It just doesn't feel right 🙅‍♂️. D66's Rob Jetten seems like a solid choice to lead those coalition talks, but I'm still skeptical about how this all plays out 🤔. And can we please move away from the drama and politicking for a sec? How about some actual progress on issues that matter to us? Like climate change or economic stability? 🌎💸
