Eagles Week 13 stock watch: Philly's defense forgets to stop the run against Bears

The Eagles' Defending Champions Fall Flat: A Look at Week 13's Stock Watch

A disappointing performance from the defending Super Bowl champions has left many fans scratching their heads. The Eagles (8-4) fell to a Bears (9-3) team that is significantly better than on paper, and now seem miles away from securing the top seed in the NFC.

The offense was asleep for long stretches, with Jalen Hurts coughing up a fumble and throwing a pick, while the defense struggled to get off the field. The Bears out-possessed the Eagles by nearly 20 minutes of game clock, highlighting the team's inability to capitalize on possessions.

While there were some glimmers of hope in this tough loss, such as the pass rush's solid performance, it was clear that the Eagles have a major area of concern on their hands. They also need to work on their offense if they want to return to form.

In week 13, two players saw their stock rise: Jaelan Phillips and Brandon Graham, who bolstered the pass rush with their additions. The line tipped three passes, including two by Jalen Carter, and made the Bears' offense one-dimensional. They also limited the run game, but allowed quarterback Caleb Williams to complete just 17 of his 36 passes.

On the other hand, the stock for the Eagles' run defense plummeted. Prior to this week's loss, the team ranked 18th overall in rush yards allowed per game, but they struggled against the Bears. The linebackers and front four were unable to contain Chicago's dual backs, D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, who combined for 6.4 yards per carry. This was a rare instance where an Eagles defense allowed two runners to cross the century mark.

Overall, this loss serves as a wake-up call for the Eagles. They need to address their weaknesses, particularly on offense, if they want to return to form and secure their position in the NFC playoffs.

the eagles are having a tough time right now ๐Ÿค”...i think it's because they got too complacent after winning that super bowl last year...they need to go back to basics and focus on developing their offense, cuz that's where the problems lie...and yeah, their run defense is basically non-existent right now ๐Ÿ˜ณ

The Bears' win is like a wake-up call for the entire league ๐Ÿšจ - it shows that even with a weaker team, you can still take down a defending champ! It's a testament to Bears' coach Matt Eberflus' strategic genius ๐Ÿ’ก and their players' resilience. On the other hand, the Eagles need to take a hard look at themselves and ask: are they complacent now that they're the defending champs? ๐Ÿค” I mean, if they can't even dominate games like this, who's gonna stop them in the playoffs?! The NFC is heating up and the competition is getting fierce ๐Ÿ”ฅ. One thing's for sure, the Eagles need to get their act together or risk being left in the dust! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

idk what's goin on with the eagles right now... they're supposed to be all dominant but they can't even get past a 9-3 team like the bears lol ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿˆ they got dominated by the defense and couldn't even move the ball like normal. jalen hurts is just messin up games left and right ๐Ÿ˜ฉ and their run defense is straight trash ๐Ÿšฎ๐Ÿ’ฅ i mean what's the plan here? are they gonna just stick with the same old thing and see if it magically fixes itself? c'mon guys get your act together ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿˆ

I'm telling ya ๐Ÿค”, something fishy went down with that Eagles game ๐Ÿ˜. I mean, come on, a team that's supposed to be superstars just gets dominated by the Bears ๐Ÿ’ฅ? It's like they were expecting a blowout or something ๐Ÿ˜‚. And don't even get me started on that fumble by Jalen Hurts ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ, it was like he was sleepwalking out there ๐Ÿ˜ด. But you know what really has me stumped? That the Eagles' run defense just can't seem to get it together ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's like they're playing with a bunch of rookie linemen or something ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I'm starting to think that this team is more like a joke than a contender ๐ŸŽ‰. Something fishy, you know?

omg i'm lovin the bears right now ๐ŸฆŠ๐Ÿ”ฅ they totally outplayed the eagles and exposed some major flaws! ๐Ÿ˜… i mean, 6.4 yards per carry for swift & monangai? that's wild ๐Ÿ”ฅ anyway, jaelan phillips & brandon graham were total game changers tho ๐Ÿ‘ their pass rush was on point and really made the bears' offense one-dimensional ๐Ÿคฏ but yeah, eagles gotta step up their game ASAP or they'll be left in the dust ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

omg ๐Ÿ˜ฑ just watched that game and i'm SHOOK ๐Ÿคฏ eagles are so inconsistent rn โฐ they gotta step up their game or else they'll be sitting at home next month ๐Ÿ˜” meanwhile, jaelan phillips and brandon graham are my new fave players ๐Ÿ’ช love how they crushed the bears pass rush ๐Ÿ”ฅ cant say the same for the run defense tho ๐Ÿšซ looks like they got owned by chicago's dual backs ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ gotta see what changes eagles make in the next few weeks ๐Ÿ‘€

I donโ€™t usually comment but itโ€™s crazy how one bad game can turn your whole season around... or not ๐Ÿคฏโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I mean the Eagles are still 8-4 but that loss against the Bears has got everyone wondering if they can get back on track. I think Jalen Hurts needs to work on his decision making and protecting the ball because it cost them a lot in that game ๐Ÿšซ. And their run defense is straight up sketchy right now, they need to figure out how to stop those dual backs or they might be in trouble ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

I'm so bummed to see my Eagles struggling like this ๐Ÿค•. I've been following them since their Super Bowl win, and it's hard to watch them fall short. The defense is doing fine, but that offense is just a mess right now... Jalen Hurts needs to work on his accuracy, and the line play is just not there. And those Bears, man... they're like the complete opposite team - dominant in every aspect! ๐Ÿคฏ

I do love seeing some young talent shine through, though... Brandon Graham's pass rush was pure gold, and I'm curious to see how Jaelan Phillips fits into their lineup. But overall, it's a tough loss for the Eagles, and they need to get their act together ASAP if they want to stay on top ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’ช

omg i cant even believe what happened to the eagles ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ they were so flat last week it was like watching a completely different team out there ๐Ÿ˜ด i mean i know they're still doing alright in terms of record but honestly i think they need to step up their game ASAP ๐Ÿ’ช or else they'll be left behind by those other teams ๐Ÿ“ˆ and ugh the pass rush is the only thing that saved them lol they shoulda invested more in that department ๐Ÿ‘

The old saying goes that "a team is only as strong as its weakest link"... well, I guess you could say the Eagles' offense just became that weak link for them. Their inability to move the ball or capitalize on possessions was a recipe for disaster. It's like they were sleepwalking out there on the field! ๐Ÿคฏ The good news is that their defense showed some glimmer of hope, but it won't be enough if they can't fix their offense ASAP. It's time for them to wake up and smell the coffee... or in this case, the loss column ๐Ÿ˜…

the eagles are having a major identity crisis lol! theyre supposed to be the defending champs but they cant even get past the bears? its like they forgot what success looks like. jalen hurts is throwing picks left and right, meanwhile jaelan phillips and brandon graham are out here bringing the heat on defense

i think its time for them to shake things up, maybe some new playcallers or coaches to bring some freshness to their offense. they cant keep relying on the same old plays that aren't working. they need to find a way to get jalen hurt comfortable again and get their run game going
