European football: Jude Bellingham snatches late draw for Real Madrid at Elche

Real Madrid's pursuit of a La Liga title has taken an unexpected turn as the team secured a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Elche, with Jude Bellingham's late strike securing a crucial point for the visitors. The match at Elche's Estadio Manuel Martín Códax saw Real Madrid bounce back from being two goals down to level the score.

Elche took an early lead in the 53rd minute through Aleix Febas' precise finish, with Germán Valera providing a beautifully executed backheel assist. However, Real Madrid responded well, with Dean Huijsman equalizing in the 81st minute after Thibaut Courtois had been beaten.

Elche regained the lead three minutes later, thanks to Álvaro Rodríguez' clinical shot into the bottom left corner. Yet, Real Madrid continued to push hard for an equalizer and were rewarded with Bellingham's late goal in the 87th minute. The young midfielder capitalized on a clever pass from Kylian Mbappé before slotting the ball past the Elche goalkeeper.

The draw extends Real Madrid's winless run to three matches but sees them reclaim top spot in La Liga, one point ahead of Barcelona. Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid secured a 1-0 victory at Getafe, with Domingos Duarte scoring an own goal in the 82nd minute to give Diego Simeone's side their fifth consecutive win.

Christian Pulisic scored Milan's only goal in a 1-0 win over Inter at San Siro, after goalkeeper Mike Maignan saved Hakan Calhanoglu's penalty attempt. Roma won 3-1 against Cremonese, with Evan Ferguson scoring his first goal for the club and ending a 13-month drought.

In other Bundesliga action, Assan Ouédraogo scored an impressive solo goal to give RB Leipzig a 2-0 win over Werder Bremen. The victory saw Leipzig move back into second place in the table, while Bayern Munich extended their lead to four points at the top with a 6-2 thrashing of Freiburg on Saturday.

The results marked a dramatic conclusion to the weekend's football action, with several teams securing crucial points in their pursuit of La Liga and Bundesliga titles.

OMG, what a match!!! Real Madrid is having such a wild ride this season I don't know how they're going to keep it up but you gotta love Jude Bellingham's determination 🤩🔥 He came on as a sub and just went WILD! And that Elche team was SO tough, they had them on the ropes for sure. But Real Madrid's squad is so deep and talented, I'm not surprised they managed to claw back those two goals.

And can we talk about La Liga for a sec? It's getting so intense with Barcelona right behind Real Madrid, it's anyone's game at this point 🤯 I love the competition! And Atlético Madrid is just killing it this season, 5 wins in a row?! What a team effort 💪.

I'm not sure how much sense it makes for Real Madrid to be so worried about a 2-2 draw 🤔. I mean, they were two goals down and then just came back like magic! Jude Bellingham's late strike was pretty cool though 😎. But if I'm being honest, three wins in a row without any draws sounds kinda weird for them... maybe they're just getting a bit too used to winning? 🤷‍♂️

Man, this Elche vs Real Madrid match was CRAZY!!! 😱 I mean, two goals down and then they come back like that? Unbelievable! Jude Bellingham is a total game-changer 🤩, he's got some serious skills on the pitch.

So now Real Madrid is back in top spot, which is awesome for them. But Atlético Madrid is still looking strong with their five-game winning streak 💪. And Barcelona, they're not out of it yet 😅. It'll be a tough season for La Liga teams, but I think that's what makes it so exciting.

What do you guys think? Are you hyped for the rest of the season in La Liga and Bundesliga? 🤔

omg what a wild match!!! i'm literally shaking right now Elche took it up 2-0 but then Real Madrid just came out of nowhere like a phoenix from the ashes and scored 3 goals in a row Dean Huijsman, Jude Bellingham, and Kylian Mbappé are my new heroes lolol and that goal by Bellingham at the end is insane i mean what was Elche even thinking when they played him against Thibaut Courtois?? and now Real Madrid gets to stay top spot in La Liga I'm so salty about Barcelona losing but anyway this match is all over the place

I'm still trying to wrap my head around Elche's performance - I mean, two goals up and then completely thrown off by Real Madrid's comeback? 🤯🔥 It's like they just stopped trying or something. And Jude Bellingham's goal was so cool! Like, what a pass from Mbappé, eh? 😎 But seriously, this draw is massive for Real Madrid - they really need these points if they wanna stay on top. I'm also loving the RB Leipzig performance - Assan Ouédraogo is like a one-man team 🤹‍♂️! Bayern Munich's thrashing of Freiburg was crazy though... 6-2?! 😲 Guess that's what happens when you're this good at soccer. Can't wait to see how the rest of the season plays out 💥

OMG 🤯 I'm literally DYING over these last-minute twists! Real Madrid's comeback against Elche was insane 🔥 2-2 just isn't enough for them today! 😅 And now they're back on top in La Liga? Mind. Blown. ⬆️ I mean, Jude Bellingham is a genius 🤓 that late goal saved Real Madrid's season and catapulted them to the top spot. Kylian Mbappé's assist was pure magic ✨. What a thrilling match! 😍

so the weekend was pretty crazy in la liga 🤯 real madrid just managed to scrape out a draw against elche, what a nail-biter! and now they're back on top 🏆 it's all about who wants that 1st place spot now. atlético madrid is giving them some competition though with their win at getafe 👍 but i think real madrid has got this in the bag for now 💪
