Fairfield police resolve September high school shooting

Fairfield High School Shooting Case Closed: Juvenile Gets 12 Months of Supervision

A shooting incident outside Fairfield High School in September has been resolved, with a juvenile suspect receiving 12 months of supervision. According to police, the altercation began when a vehicle was hit by gunfire, but fortunately, no one was injured.

Within 60 seconds of receiving the call, officers secured the area and worked closely with school staff to determine the whereabouts of the suspect. After reviewing hours of surveillance footage, conducting interviews, and searching residences, the case was turned over to the department's Youth Services Unit.

The juvenile eventually surrendered to authorities, but not before being found guilty of assault with a firearm in a separate case. The judge handed down a sentence that included six months in a juvenile facility and three months of GPS-monitored supervision.

In both cases, the juvenile received a lengthy sentence that demonstrates the seriousness with which authorities are treating these types of incidents. The resolution of this case marks an important step towards keeping students and staff at Fairfield High School safe.

The police department has been praised for their swift response to the situation, with officers arriving on the scene within minutes of receiving the call. The successful resolution of the shooting case is a testament to the dedication and expertise of the Fairfield Police Department's Youth Services Unit.

I'm not surprised they got 12 months of supervision instead of jail time 🤔...I mean, it's good that no one was hurt in the incident, but at the same time, you feel like the system is kinda letting these kids off easy, you know? 😒. I don't think we should be too hard on the cops for getting there fast, though - they did a great job containing the situation and keeping everyone safe 💯. Still, it's just one of those weird cases where the kid was already facing other charges, so maybe that played into the leniency of the sentence 🤷‍♀️. Overall, it's good that the school is safe again, but can't we do more to prevent these kinds of incidents from happening in the first place? 🤔

omg, 12 months of supervision is kinda harsh don't get me wrong the kid was guilty but i think they should've gone with probation instead 🤔 it's like, a second chance for them to make things right and show the community that they're committed to changing their ways. plus it's not like the kid actually hurt anyone in the school 🙅‍♂️ just the vehicle outside which is like, a totally different story... still i feel bad for the kid cuz i think they're gonna struggle with this sentence for a long time 😔

man this is crazy how young people are involved in stuff like that 🤯 u gotta feel for the school staff and students who had to deal with all that stress and fear outside their school grounds 12 months of supervision seems harsh but I guess it's better than some people think 👍 at least the police responded quickly and did a good job keeping everyone safe 💪 what's crazy is they found out who the suspect was after hours of surveillance footage, can u believe that? 📹

🤔 12 months of supervision seems kinda light considering what could've happened... like, what if someone got hurt or worse? 🙏 still good that no one was injured though, gotta give props to the police for being super fast on the scene 🚨💨 and all those hours of surveillance footage paying off 👀

so its good that no one got hurt but 12 months supervision seems kinda lenient considering what happened, i mean a vehicle was hit by gunfire 🚨💥 but at least the police were super quick on their feet, responding within 60 seconds must be stressful for them and the school staff 👮‍♂️💼

I think 12 months of supervision is kinda short considering what could've happened. I mean, the kid was found guilty of assault with a firearm in another case 🤔, so I'd expect more punishment than just some time at home with GPS on it. And what about the fact that no one got hurt during the shooting? It feels like 12 months isn't enough to make up for the potential harm that could've been done...

I'm glad this guy got a slap on the wrist... 12 months of supervision? that's not harsh enough 🤔 I mean, come on, he was armed with a firearm and shot someone's car, but luckily no one got hurt. Still, it's better than nothing, I guess. The police did their job right, securing the area fast and all, so kudos to them for that 💯. But seriously, shouldn't we be doing more to prevent these kinds of incidents from happening in the first place? Just a thought...
