I gotta say, $823k restitution is crazy lol... like, what's the real cost of doing time? I'm not saying he shouldn't pay up, but 28 years in the slammer + 3 yrs supervised release = a whole lot of financial stress . And it's wild that he's still arguing about the amount when they already came to an agreement . Guess you could say he's still trying to get out of paying his dues . But hey, at least the court approved the deal so we can all rest easy knowing justice was served kinda...
I'm not buying this . $823,649.09 is still a pretty sweet deal considering he was found guilty of 24 counts of corruption. I mean, three years supervised release? That's it? And now he gets to keep his pension benefits and income subject to garnishment? Sounds like a solid rehabilitation plan to me... not . Where's the transparency in this restitution deal? Why did he get clemency from Trump in the first place? What's the real story here?
I think it's kinda weird that Kwame Kilpatrick still has to deal with this mess years after being convicted. I mean, 28 years in prison was already a crazy long sentence, but now he gets hit with more restitution payments . It's like the system just keeps trying to keep him down, even after he's served some time. The fact that he can't get his remaining balance declared paid in full is pretty harsh. I guess it shows how serious the authorities are about holding public officials accountable for their actions . But at the same time, you've gotta wonder what Kilpatrick's life was like after being released from prison and how hard it must be to start over .
