Gophers football: Texas Longhorns nab another U pledge

Texas Longhorns Poach Minnesota U Recruit, Second Time This Month

In a blow to the University of Minnesota's football program, another high school recruit has defected to its rival institution in Texas. Jett Walker, a 6-foot-2 and 215-pound running back from Georgetown, Texas, renounced his pledge to the Golden Gophers on Sunday.

Walker was initially committed to Minnesota after flipping from West Virginia earlier this month. However, it appears he changed his mind during an unofficial visit to Austin, where he expressed his excitement about "staying home" in a social media post. This decision marks the second time a recruit has switched allegiance to Texas this month, following Charlie Jilek's defection from Minnesota last week.

With this latest loss, Minnesota now boasts 30 total commitments for its 2026 class. The early signing period is set to begin on December 3, and it remains to be seen how the program will recover from these back-to-back setbacks.

omg like i was just talking about texas longhorns with my friend last week and we were saying they're trying to make a comeback 🤔... but i guess poaching recruits is kinda a different story 😂. i feel bad for the minnesota gophers though, they must be so frustrated right now 💔. two recruits in one month? that's like, a lot of hurt feelings 😩. hope they can turn it around and get some other talented players to join their team 🤞. btw, has anyone seen my cousin's kid play football? i think he's on the minnesota team but i haven't heard from him in ages 📱...

I mean, what's up with all these recruits jumping ship? First Charlie Jilek leaves Minnesota and now Jett Walker does the same? 🤔 I'm not saying Texas is better or anything, but it's just a bit suspicious how easily they're luring them away from other teams. And for what? So they can play in front of all those fans at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium? It seems like there's more to it than just the game itself... 🏈💔 Maybe something about the facilities, coaching staff or even the money involved? I'm not sure, but as a fan of college football, it's disheartening to see top talent getting poached like this. Can't we just enjoy the games without all these drama and backroom deals? 🤷‍♂️

the u of minnesota's recruiting struggles are getting old 🤦‍♂️... texas is like the ultimate destination for high school football recruits these days, and it's hard not to wonder if they're doing something right. i mean, charlie jilek just flipped from minny last week and now jett walker does the same thing? what's going on over there? 🤔

Wow 🤯 - Texas Longhorns are on fire 🔥 this recruitment season! Two recruits switching sides in one month? That's insane. Minnesota needs to step up their game ASAP 💪 or they'll be left with a weak 2026 class 😬.

man, texas just keeps pulling off these crazy recruitment stunts 🤯! like, i get it, they're trying to build their program and all that jazz, but can't they just focus on developing their own talent for once? 🙄 30 commitments in one class is insane, it's like they're trying to stock up for the apocalypse or something 😂. anyway, gotta feel for minnesota, they must be gutted to lose another recruit 🤕. and now they've got this early signing period looming over them...fingers crossed they can turn things around 🤞
