Guardian's Football Weekly and Women's Football Weekly land podcast double at FSA Awards

The Guardian has claimed a double victory at this year's Football Supporters' Association (FSA) Awards, sweeping both podcast categories.

Women's Football Weekly, hosted by Faye Carruthers and Suzanne Wrack, took home the Women's Football Media of the Year award, celebrating outstanding work in women's football coverage. The podcast won over other notable outlets, with a six-outlet shortlist deemed to be "the best around for essential football audio".

Meanwhile, Football Weekly regained its Podcast of the Year crown after last year's loss to Football Ramble. Max Rushden, host of Football Weekly, jokingly expressed his delight on social media: "All is well with the world again."

This double victory marks a significant win for The Guardian in both podcast categories. The FSA Awards recognize not only exceptional football journalism but also hard work and dedication from fans, clubs, and supporters.

At the ceremony held at Nobu in central London, other winners included Declan Rice and Alessia Russo as Men's and Women's Player of the Year respectively, Lucy Ward for TV/Radio Pundit of the Year, and Peter Drury as Commentator of the Year. The awards also highlighted notable achievements from supporters' groups, clubs, and media outlets across the pyramid.

The FSA Chair, Tom Greatrex, praised winners such as Declan Rice and Alessia Russo, saying they are "unbelievable talents who have been brilliant for club and country". He also emphasized that the FSA Awards shine a light on often-overlooked work in football coverage, stating there is "so much good work going on out there".

OMG, I'm not surprised tbh 🤩, The Guardian's got an amazing team behind them. Women's Football Weekly is literally the best podcast out right now 💯. Faye and Suzanne are so underrated, they deserve more recognition 🙌. Max Rushden's win isn't a surprise either, he's been hosting Football Weekly for ages and knows his stuff like the back of his hand 👍. It's great to see The Guardian taking home both podcast awards, it shows they're really committed to covering football from all angles 📰. And congrats to Declan Rice and Alessia Russo on their Player of the Year wins, they're absolute legends on the pitch 🏆!

idk why everyone's fangirling over The Guardian's podcast wins 🤷‍♂️. don't get me wrong, Women's Football Weekly sounds dope, but shouldn't we be talking about the bigger picture here? like, what about all the other amazing podcasts that didn't make it to the shortlist? aren't they doing valuable work too? 🤔

🌎 The Guardian's podcast dominance is no surprise, but it's awesome to see Faye & Suzanne killing the game with Women's Football Weekly! 👏 Congrats to them for taking home that coveted award. It's a testament to their hard work and dedication to covering women's football with passion & depth.

I also love how the FSA Awards celebrate not just top-notch journalism, but also the tireless efforts of fans, clubs, and supporters who bring the excitement of the beautiful game to life. 🌟 And let's be real, Max Rushden's victory dance on social media was EVERYTHING 😂🎉 It's moments like these that remind us why we love football so much.

The FSA Chair's words of praise for Declan Rice and Alessia Russo are well-deserved – they're truly talented athletes who inspire millions worldwide. And it's wonderful to see the awards shining a light on often-overlooked work in football coverage. Keep doing what you're doing, FSA & The Guardian! 👏👍

I think The Guardian getting all these awards is kinda sketchy... I mean, don't get me wrong, they're doing great journalism and all that 🤔. But it's like, have you noticed how the FSA Awards are super easy to vote for? I'm not saying anyone cheated or anything, but it feels a bit too convenient that The Guardian won both podcast categories 💸. And what about all those other awesome podcasts out there? Don't they deserve some love too? 🤷‍♂️

omg i'm so happy for The Guardian lol 🤩 their podcast teams must be working super hard to win those awards twice this year! Women's Football Weekly sounds like a great show too, Faye and Suzanne are awesome hosts 🎙️. it's dope to see the FSA celebrating all types of football media, not just the big outlets... there's so much talent out there going unnoticed 🤯. congrats to Declan Rice, Alessia Russo, Lucy Ward, and Peter Drury on their wins too! 🏆 they deserve it 😎

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 I'm loving The Guardian's double win at the FSA Awards! 🎉 It's awesome to see podcast categories getting some serious recognition, especially with Women's Football Weekly taking home the top prize. Max Rushden's reaction is priceless 😂. The FSA Awards are all about celebrating the hard work and dedication of fans, clubs, and supporters, so it's awesome to see so many notable winners this year! 👏 Declan Rice and Alessia Russo as Player of the Year are well-deserved 🙌. And I love how Tom Greatrex is highlighting the often-overlooked work in football coverage – there's definitely a lot of great stuff out there being done by supporters' groups, clubs, and media outlets across the pyramid! 👍

Ugh, another award ceremony where everyone's just patting themselves on the back 🙄. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's nice that The Guardian won those podcast categories, but does this really matter? It feels like we're just celebrating who can shout about football the loudest rather than actually having meaningful conversations about the sport 📺. And what's with all these awards for individual players? Can't they see how much of an impact their performances have on the team as a whole? 🤔 I guess it's nice that there are still people out there doing good work in football coverage, but can we just have a more nuanced discussion about the state of the sport instead of just handing out trophies and praise 💬.

omg what's up lol did u know 🤯 The Guardian just took down both podcast categories at the FSA Awards? Women's Football Weekly won Media of the Year and Football Weekly regained Podcast of the Year! 😆 that's like, a total double whammy for The Guardian 🚀 max rushden is lowkey hilarious on social media btw 👍

I'm loving this double win from The Guardian 🎉! It's like they just picked up where Football Weekly left off from 10 years ago when it was also their Podcast of the Year 📚. I mean, who needs change or improvement when what you already got is still gold? Max Rushden should've stuck to his day job as a TV presenter instead of trying to host a podcast 😂. And congrats to Faye and Suzanne on Women's Football Weekly - it's great to see more women in football getting recognition 🙌. I do wish they'd add some variety to the awards, though... same winners every year is just boring 😴.

omg can u believe The Guardian took home both podcast categories 🤩🎙️ i mean congrats to Women's Football Weekly for that Women's Football Media of the Year win and Football Weekly for reclaiming Podcast of the Year - it's like they're dominating these awards! 💪 the FSA Awards always highlight some amazing work from behind the scenes, so kudos to all the winners and nominees 👏👍

omg cant believe The Guardian won both podcast categories again 🤯🎙️ i mean dont get me wrong, other outlets like Football Ramble and Football Weekly are great but theres just something about those Guardian podcasts that gets you every time 😍 max rushden is so funny on social media btw lol 💬 anyhoo gotta give it up to The Guardian for all the hard work they put into their podcasts 🙌💪
