Here's why we can't get rid of 'mansplaining' | Letters

I feel so frustrated about Zoe Williams' opinion piece 🤯 - like, don't get me wrong, she's got some good points, but dismissing the term "mansplaining" altogether just feels like erasing an important conversation 💁‍♀️. What really gets my goat is that she thinks it only applies to men who aren't genuinely knowledgeable, but what about when those same men are using their supposed expertise to shut down women's voices? 🗣️ It's not about 'man-splaining' being relevant or irrelevant - it's about acknowledging the systemic issues that let biases like this run wild. And let's be real, mansplaining is a symptom of a bigger problem, one that affects us all 💬.

😔 I'm so disappointed to hear that some people think mansplaining is no longer relevant 🤯. Like, can you imagine if someone just started talking over you at work or in a conversation without even realizing it? It's frustrating and demotivating 💔. The fact that Zoe Williams thinks the term is only applied unfairly when men are explaining things that aren't their area of expertise just doesn't sit right with me 🤷‍♀️. I mean, isn't the point of mansplaining to acknowledge those biases and privilege issues? We need more awareness and education about how our words can impact others 💬. It's so important to listen and learn from each other, not talk over each other 👂.
