Ugh I'm so frustrated about this
Horses was already getting all these amazing reviews on itch.io and GOG, but now it's just being shut down because of some vague concerns over 'inappropriate content'. It's like, what exactly were they worried about? The game's graphics are intentionally ugly, which is part of the whole horror thing. I mean, who needs fancy graphics to be scared, right?
And the director's explanation about the psychological horror aspect really resonates with me - it's all about the weirdness and unease, not just gore or violence.
I think this whole ordeal says a lot about how we as gamers value art and creativity in games. I mean, if Horses was allowed to be released, that would've been a huge statement about supporting indie devs and their unique perspectives. Now it's all about the safe, mainstream options
