Is Xabi Alonso's time up at Real Madrid? – Football Weekly Extra

Reports have been swirling that Spanish giants, Real Madrid, are growing increasingly dissatisfied with the form of their long-time defensive midfielder, Xabi Alonso. The 37-year-old has been a stalwart presence in the heart of the team for over a decade, but it seems his time at the Santiago Bernabéu may be drawing to a close.

Alonso's contributions on the pitch have become fewer and farther between in recent months, with many questioning whether he still possesses the same level of technique and vision that once made him a key player. His passing range and control remain as impressive as ever, but his energy levels have waned significantly since the arrival of new players.

Sources close to the club suggest that Alonso's contract is set to expire in the summer, with several suitors already lining up to sign him. The likes of Manchester City and Juventus are among those rumored to be vying for his signature, suggesting that Alonso may not be able to command a first-team spot at Real Madrid going forward.

It's a sad decline for a player who was once hailed as one of the greatest midfielders in the world. Alonso's departure would undoubtedly leave a void in the Real Madrid dressing room, but it also presents an opportunity for younger players to step up and fill the gap. As we approach the final stages of Alonso's career, one thing is certain – his time at Real Madrid is almost certainly coming to an end.

I think its pretty fair that xabi alonso might not be getting a 1st team spot anymore 🤔, hes 37 and its only normal for players to start winding down their careers. The fact that some teams are already sniffing around his signature is a sign of the times, we've got more fast-paced games now so older players need to be more adaptable if they wanna stay relevant 💪

Plus, its not all bad news for real madrid, they can use this as an opportunity to bring in younger talent and give them a chance to shine 🔥. Alonso's leaving doesn't define the team, they've got plenty of other great players on their roster 🙌

🤔 It's a bittersweet reality that Xabi Alonso's time with Real Madrid might be ticking away 🔀. His contributions have diminished significantly in recent months, and it's hard to deny the natural decline that comes with age 🕰️. Still, his legacy as one of the greatest midfielders in the world remains unwavering ⚽️.

It's interesting to consider the implications of his potential departure on the team's dynamics 👥. On one hand, it would be a significant loss, particularly for the veteran players who have come to regard him as a leader 🌟. On the other hand, this could present an opportunity for younger players to shine and prove themselves 💪.

The market for Alonso is already heating up, with several top-tier clubs looking to snap him up 💼. While it's natural that he wouldn't be able to command the same level of attention as he once did, I'm curious to see which team will ultimately succeed in reinvigorating his career 🔮.

I think Alonso still has so much left in him 😊 but it's tough when new talent comes in and shakes things up. I feel bad for the guy though, he gave everything to that club. Younger players need to step up now and show what they're made of 💪

the sad thing about alonso leaving real madrid is that it feels like he's losing his identity as a midfielder... his passing range and control are still top-notch but you can see the weight of years catching up with him 🤕
i'd love to see some stats on his recent appearances, maybe there's a trend that shows when he's played less minutes, his performances have been worse too? 📊👀
on the bright side, it's gonna be interesting to see who comes in and tries to replace him... maybe someone like rodri or fernandinho can bring some new energy to the team ⚽💪

omg did real madrid actually think they could just keep xabi alonso forever lol he was always a bit old for this sport and now he's finally showing signs of it 🤦‍♂️ but seriously who can blame him? he's still giving it his all on the pitch, even if it's not as much as he used to 😊 and yeah manchester city and juventus are gonna love having him 🎉 i mean don't get me wrong alonso is a legend and all but real madrid needs to move on now 💔

I feel bad seeing Xabi Alonso's game time dwindle like that 🤕. The guy was a rock for so long and it's sad to think he might not be able to keep up with the new players. But at the same time, I'm sure the club needs to think about the future and give more opportunities to the younger guys who are coming through the ranks 💪. It's not an easy thing to accept, but Alonso is 37 after all, and it's time for him to start thinking about his legacy 🕰️. Manchester City and Juventus are strong teams, so I'm sure he'll find a good home wherever he goes 👍. The Real Madrid fans will miss him though - he was always such an integral part of the team ❤️.

man... xabi alonso has been with real madrid for ages, i feel bad for him he still puts in some solid performances but it's clear his body isn't what it used to be 🤕 the team needs some fresh energy anyway, maybe it's time for the younger guys like Eduardo camavinga to take on more responsibility 👍

🤔 I feel bad for Xabi Alonso, he was such a legend in the game 🙏. His decline is a reminder that even the best players have to deal with Father Time. It's not uncommon for players to struggle as they get older, especially in high-intensity sports like football. But it's sad to see him go from being an integral part of Real Madrid's midfield to, well, being a squad player.

The bigger picture is that this is just the way the game works now 🤷‍♂️. As teams look for younger players with more energy and speed, experienced players like Alonso have to adapt or move on. It's not all bad news though – it gives opportunities for other talented youngsters to shine! 😊

I FEEL SO SAD FOR XABI ALONSO!!!! HE'S BEEN AN ICONIC PART OF REAL MADRID FOR SO LONG AND TO SEE HIM STRETCHING HIS CONTRACT IS JUST BUMMING 🤕🏆 I GET IT, THE CLUB NEEDS TO MOVE ON AND GIVE YOUNGER PLAYERS A CHANCE, BUT AT THE SAME TIME YOU CAN'T HELP BUT FEEL A LITTLE SAD FOR THIS LEGENDARY MIDFIELDER WHO'S HAD SUCH AN IMMEASURABLE IMPACT ON THE TEAM 😔

I'm so bummed about Xabi Alonso's situation 😔. I remember watching him play for Liverpool back in 2004 and he was literally unplayable! His passing range and vision were insane 💥. But, as we all get older, it's hard to keep up with the pace of the game, you know? 🤣

I've been saying this for years – teams need players who can adapt and evolve, not just stick in one position forever 🔙. Don't get me wrong, Alonso was a legend, but I think he's been given too much time to adjust 🕰️.

It's gonna be interesting to see who picks him up, though. Manchester City or Juventus? Both great teams 💪. But, at the end of the day, it's not just about who signs him – it's about how they can use his skills and experience to lift their game ⚽️. Time for those young guns to step up and show us what they're made of 🔥!

awww man, it's sad to see xabi alonso's time at real madrid winding down 🤕 he was such a legend on the pitch! but you gotta respect that he's still getting offers from top clubs and that says alot about his talent 💪 it's gonna be tough for the team to lose him, but i'm sure the young guns are ready to step up and show what they're made of 👊

omg u guys idk what's going on with xabi alonso rn 🤔 he's been playing for like forever and always seems so calm but i guess even the best players gotta slow down eventually 👴🏻 anyway it's super sad cuz he's just so underrated as a player, always getting done a favor by his teammates lol now he'll have to find a new team and hopefully they see what he can do 🤞

I'm feeling a bit sad about Xabi Alonso's situation 😔. He was such an incredible player for years, and it's hard to believe he's not playing as regularly anymore. The passing of time always takes its toll on players, but it's still a shame to see him slowly fade away from the beautiful game 🏀.

At the same time, I think this is a great opportunity for Real Madrid to give some young talent a chance 👍. They've got so many talented youngsters on their books, and maybe one of them can fill Alonso's shoes? It's all part of the natural cycle of football, but it still feels like we're saying goodbye to an amazing player 💔.

Still, you've got to admire Alonso's dedication to the sport - 37 years old and still trying to make a difference on the pitch! 🙌
