Jaxson Davis resists lure of prep school and keeps Warren's state-championship dreams alive

Jaxson Davis, Warren's top basketball talent, has opted to stay in-state rather than joining the ranks of prep schools that have claimed his friends Davion Thompson and Devin Cleveland.

The decision not to leave for Link Academy or La Lumiere was a tough one, with Davis admitting that he had considered it. However, ultimately, staying close to home won out as he felt that his support system was already in place at Warren High School. The strong bond he shares with his peers, coupled with the enthusiasm of the fans, played a significant role in his decision.

For coach Zack Ryan, who guided the team to state championship glory last season, Davis' commitment is a welcome relief. Despite graduating several key players, Ryan remains confident that this year's squad will be just as strong, if not more so.

Several new additions have bolstered the team, including junior guard Tayte Cordova and senior guard LeBron Massey, with Braylon Walker - Davis' best friend and fellow standout player - also set to return.

While some may question why Walker wasn't getting recruitment offers from top colleges, Davis is determined to take it one game at a time. With several high-profile matchups on the schedule, including Benet, Evanston, and DePaul Prep, the pressure will be on.

Ultimately, Jaxson Davis' decision to stay at Warren has injected much-needed talent into Illinois high school basketball, providing fans with another exciting season of competition.
