Ugh, can't even believe what's happening in academia right now
. Like, the Trump admin was literally trying to control what people could say on campus, and a judge just shut them down for good
. It's about time someone stood up for free speech and academic freedom - we can't have our universities being run like some sort of corporate sweatshop
.
And honestly, I think the UC system is doing the right thing by keeping settlement talks going, even if it means appeasing the Trump admin a bit. At least they're not giving in to these outrageous demands yet
. But seriously, this whole situation is super concerning and highlights just how precarious higher ed has become right now
.
I mean, have you seen the salaries of all those execs running around universities? Like, while humanities departments are getting cut left and right, those guys are raking it in
. It's just not fair to students and faculty who actually care about education. We need to get back to prioritizing knowledge over profit
.
Anyway, I'm so glad we have folks like the ones involved in this case fighting for our rights as students and scholars. It's gonna take a community effort to save academia from corporate greed
