Kyle Williams' Super 25 high school girls basketball rankings for Jan. 18, 2026

Mother McAuley's dominant performance against St. Charles East has catapulted the team to 16th in the Super 25 girls basketball rankings, with a win over Providence and DePaul Prep just last week proving their prowess.

The Saints' success was largely attributed to sophomore Ava Little, who scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds, while also displaying impressive defensive skills. Little's ability to defend against opponents has been a key factor in the team's victories, and Mother McAuley coach Curtis Lewis praises her as "defending one through five."

Senior guard Quinn Arundel led the team with 19 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, demonstrating her role as the Mighty Macs' engine. The win has given them more confidence and grit, especially considering they were not favored to win.

In other action, Benet showcased its impressive roster with a dominant 61-39 victory against Glenbrook South. Senior center Emma Briggs scored 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, while junior guard Ava Mersinger had five assists and three blocks in just 27 minutes of play.

Meanwhile, Prospect junior forward Zoe Black set a program record with 42 points, including 11 three-pointers, in their 79-60 win against Phillips. The team's success will be put to the test this week as they take on Whitney Young on Monday.

The Super 25 rankings have been updated, and here are the top teams:

1. Benet (18-1)
2. Loyola Academy (20-2)
3. Naperville Central (18-3)
4. Nazareth (17-3)
5. Waubonsie Valley (19-1)

Other notable rankings include Mother McAuley (16th), Fremd (8th), DePaul Prep (7th), and Libertyville (20th).

the big question is, what's driving the success of these teams? its not just individual talent, thats for sure. i mean, take mother mcauley for example, their win over providence and de paul prep was huge, but if you look at the stats, quinn arundel's scoring isn't that out of the ordinary 🤔. its really about how they work together as a team, and how well they execute their plays on defense 💪.

and it's not just the big games either. teams like benet are dominating in their own backyard, but what happens when they hit the road? will they be able to translate that success to other environments? 🚣‍♀️

i also think we need to give more props to some of these coaches, like curtis lewis at mother mcauley. he's clearly doing something right, and his ability to get the best out of his players is impressive 👏.

anyway, excited to see how these teams stack up against each other this week! 📚

I'm loving how the Saints are killing it right now! 🙌 Ava Little is literally a game-changer on defense, she's got skills for days. And Quinn Arundel is just a force to be reckoned with, her energy is infectious on that court. The win over Providence and DePaul Prep was huge for their confidence, they're definitely proving the doubters wrong now 😒. Can't wait to see how Mother McAuley's season goes from here, maybe they'll sneak into the top 10? 💪

I'm loving the resurgence of Mother McAuley's squad, they're on fire right now 🚀! Ava Little is a total beast on defense, I've been watching her games and she's got some serious skills 💪. And Quinn Arundel is a natural-born leader, 19 points and 7 rebounds? that's insane 😲. Benet's roster is looking pretty strong too, Emma Briggs is a dominant force in the paint 🤯.

As for the upcoming games, it's gonna be a tough one for Prospect against Whitney Young. Zoe Black is going to have to bring her A-game 🤔.

The Super 25 rankings are a great way to track the progress of these teams, but what do you guys think is the most underrated team in the rankings? 🤔

omg, can u believe Mother McAuley just cracked the top 16 🤯! that's so impressive considering they weren't expected to win against those teams. Ava Little is a total beast on defense 🚫💪, her ability to defend against opponents has been making all the difference in their games. and Quinn Arundel is looking 🔥 as the team's lead guard, always stepping up with clutch performances.

anyway, i was checking out the Super 25 rankings 📊 and it's crazy to see Benet at number one 🤯! they're killing it this season with an 18-1 record. and Nazareth is right behind them, proving that they're not just a one-hit wonder 💪. I'm also loving Prospect's record-breaker 🚀, Zoe Black is on fire with those three-pointers 🎯!

btw, have you seen the stats for Mother McAuley vs DePaul Prep? 12-5 in rebounding and 24-15 in points scored 📊. Ava Little went 4/6 from 3pt range 🔥 what a performance! 👏

Ugh, another bunch of privileged schools showing off their basketball skills 🤦‍♀️. I mean, Benet's 61-39 win over Glenbrook South is basically a cakewalk, but hey, who needs actual competition when you've got super rich parents to bankroll your team? 💸 And don't even get me started on Prospect's Zoe Black, she's just another example of how the system can churn out overachieving athletes with no real passion for the game 🤔.

And what's with all these "dominant performances" and "impressive defensive skills"? It's not like any of this is even surprising. The rankings are basically just a formality at this point, and I'm sure someone will have to explain to me why Mother McAuley is ranked 16th when they've only won one real game against Providence 🤷‍♀️.

The whole thing feels so scripted, you know? Like the coaches and parents are all just pretending like they care about the kids' well-being, but really it's all about winning and making a good impression for college scouts 👀.
