Lisandro Martinez: Manchester United defender won't be rushed after return to training

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has stated that Lisandro Martinez will not be rushed back into action despite the Argentine centre-back's return to training. The 27-year-old defender was ruled out since February after suffering a cruciate ligament injury and had been working on his rehabilitation at the club's facility.

According to Amorim, Martinez has started training with the team but will need to take it slow, gradually increasing his intensity as he works towards regaining full fitness. The manager believes that having one of his key defenders back in the fold will provide a significant boost for the squad, especially in terms of defensive solidity.

However, there is an added layer of complexity given that Martinez's predecessor, Victor Lindelof, has been struggling with injuries himself. Despite this, United have not brought in any replacements to address the issue of player availability due to injury.

The recent comments from Sean Dyche, Nottingham Forest manager, claiming that a 4-4-2 formation would yield more wins for Manchester United than Amorim's preferred system, also highlighted the challenges facing the team. Dyche claimed that using such an approach would guarantee more victories despite acknowledging that it is a different job to manage United.

Amorim has downplayed Dyche's remarks, maintaining his confidence in his own methods. The manager accepts that criticism can be constructive but emphasizes that he believes his tactics will ultimately prove successful for the club over time.

With Martinez returning to action, United will look forward to bolstering their squad with more injuries easing.

omg i feel like martinez's return is super good news for man u 🤩 they've been struggling so much this season and having one of their best defenders back will definitely make a big difference 🔥 but at the same time, it's weird that they haven't brought in any new signings to replace lindelof since he's been out 🤔 maybe now that martinez is back on track, we can expect some new signings? 😃

I don't usually comment but it's crazy how much pressure Lisandro Martinez is under 🤯. The guy was out since Feb and now he's gotta come back slowly? That's fair, but I feel like the team needs him ASAP. They're already getting thrashed by teams that aren't even top 4 material.

And what's with not bringing in any new defenders? I mean, we all know injuries happen, but it's basic squad management 🤔. The manager said something about needing defensive solidity and all that, but it feels like they're just playing catch-up here.

I don't think Sean Dyche's comments really matter, tbh 😒. He's a different manager with a different job, so maybe he knows what works for his team but not ours? Amorim seems confident in his methods and I trust him more than I trust speculation from other managers 🤷‍♂️. We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out 💪

I think its crazy that Dyche is saying 4-4-2 would work better for us 🤔. I mean, Ive seen some pretty rubbish matches from Forest and Dyche's a decent manager, so I'm not convinced he knows what he's talking about. We need to stick with Amorim's system and see it through - its clear he believes in his methods and we should support him 💪. Plus, bringing in new players is easy enough for the summer, but Martinez's back now so let's focus on giving him a chance to get fit and prove himself 💕👍

🤔 I think it's interesting how Amorim is taking a cautious approach with Lisandro Martinez's return. It's great that he's not putting pressure on Martinez to rush back into the fray, as that could lead to another setback. 🏥 The fact that Martinez has been working out on his own since February shows he's committed to his rehabilitation, and it'll be exciting to see him get back on the pitch soon.

The issue of injuries being a recurring problem is a tough one for any manager to tackle, especially with no replacements in place. 💔 Amorim's emphasis on building squad depth might not be the most effective solution right now, but at least he's recognizing it as an area that needs improvement.

I'm also intrigued by Dyche's comments about the 4-4-2 formation. It's understandable why he'd think it could work for United – who wouldn't want more wins? 😊 But Amorim seems convinced in his own approach, and I suppose time will tell if he's right.

ugh i feel for man u right now 💔 they're having such a tough time with all these injuries and no one in sight to cover the gap 🤕 lisandro martinez's return is a big deal tho, he's like the last piece of the puzzle for their defense 😅 but i'm also kinda glad that ruben amorim isn't gonna rush him back out there, you don't wanna risk setting him back even more 💯 anyway, dyche's comments about 4-4-2 are interesting 🤔 i guess only time will tell if amorim's system is the way to go 👀

🤔 so i was reading about man u's latest news and its all about ruben amorim's plans for lisandro martinez... i think its cool that they're taking it slow with him tho, doesnt make sense to rush back into action especially after a big injury like that... 27 is pretty old to be coming back from a cruciate ligament too... i mean martinez has worked hard at the club's facility but gotta remember hes still got some miles to go before he's fully fit... 😊
