LIVE: US envoy to meet Russia's Putin for talks on ending Ukraine war

Russia and the US are set to meet for talks in Moscow on Tuesday. The discussions will center around a proposal by the Trump administration to bring an end to the war in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US special envoy Steve Witkoff are expected to sit down for what is hoped to be productive conversations about ending the conflict. Russia's key demands include limiting Ukraine's military capabilities, granting full control over Donbas region, and recognizing Crimea as a legitimate annexation.

It has been reported that Russian forces have gained significant ground in Ukraine, controlling around 20% of the country's territory. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had expressed optimism about the progress being made towards revising the Trump administration's peace plan, with talks to be held in Florida earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Russia is currently on a two-day visit to India, where Putin aims to boost energy and defense exports amid tensions with the US. The European Central Bank has rejected providing backstop for a โ‚ฌ163 billion loan to Ukraine.

I'm not sure if this meeting between Russia and the US will actually lead to anything concrete... ๐Ÿค” I mean, we all know how these talks usually go, right? Both sides are just trying to get what they want without giving in too much. The idea of limiting Ukraine's military capabilities sounds like a massive concession from Moscow, but at the same time, it could be seen as a way to prevent things from escalating further. I'm also curious about why Ukraine is still waiting for that โ‚ฌ163 billion loan - shouldn't the EU just step in and help them out by now? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ And Putin's visit to India sounds like a pretty obvious attempt to distract us while he's dealing with the Ukraine situation... ๐Ÿ‘€

yaaas can't believe we're finally seeing some talks between Russia & US hopefully this means a way out of this war ๐Ÿคž Putin & Witkoff meeting on Tuesday is like, super positive vibes only ๐Ÿ’ซ fingers crossed they can make some progress on limiting military capabilities & recognizing Crimea's annexation... that'd be huge ๐Ÿ˜Š

So Russia's all like "Hey US, can we talk?" And now they're gonna get all cozy in Moscow? Meanwhile, Ukraine is just over here like "Uh, I thought we were having talks in Florida?" And then there's this whole energy and defense export thing going on with India... sounds like Putin's trying to sell us some "peace" and a side of Russian nuclear power. Don't worry, Ukraine will be fine, they'll just have to put their trust in Trump's plan (again). By the way, has anyone else noticed that 20% of Ukraine is basically like one big parking lot?

I'm not sure what's going on here ๐Ÿค”... both sides think they're right about this Ukraine thingy. Russia wants to be in charge, while the US wants them to just chill ๐Ÿ˜Ž. But what about Ukraine? Don't they deserve a say in their own country? The EU saying no to helping out with โ‚ฌ163 billion is like, super harsh ๐Ÿค‘. And Putin's all over India right now, trying to make friends... but what's in it for him? Is he just buying time while Russia keeps gaining ground in Ukraine? It's all so complicated... ๐Ÿ’ญ

OMG u guys!! I'm low-key hyped about these talks between Russia & the US ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ! It's been ages since we've seen some real progress on that Ukraine situation, and I'm hoping this is gonna be the break we need ๐Ÿ’ช! Don't @ me, but I think Putin might just be onto something with his demands... like, what if limiting military capabilities & recognizing Crimea as legit actually helps bring peace to the region? ๐Ÿค It's not like Ukraine is gonna magically become more chill about Russia taking over its land or anything ๐Ÿ˜‚. And can we talk about Steve Witkoff for a sec? I mean, US special envoy? He sounds like a total boss ๐Ÿ’ผ! Anywayz, fingers crossed these talks go well & we get some real change in the near future ๐Ÿคž

Ugh, can we talk about the logistics of these talks for a sec? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ Like, Russia's already got a huge chunk of Ukraine under their control and now they're expecting the US to just roll over and accept it? ๐Ÿ™„ I mean, I get that there needs to be some kind of peace plan in place but this doesn't seem like a very balanced proposal. And don't even get me started on Russia's energy exports to India - is Putin trying to buy his way into some sort of favor with Modi? ๐Ÿ˜’ It just seems like the EU and US are getting taken for a ride here...

๐Ÿค” I'm not sure about these talks in Moscow... Like, if Russia's really open to ending the war, they're gonna have to drop some major demands. 20% of Ukraine's territory is already being controlled by Russian forces, that's like, a huge concession. And Donbas region? That's like the ultimate sticking point for Ukraine. I'm not saying Ukraine's not willing to negotiate or anything, but if Russia wants out of this war, they gotta be willing to make some serious compromises. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm both intrigued and skeptical about these talks between Russia and the US ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ก. I mean, can we really trust that Putin's got good intentions? He's been playing a long game with Ukraine, and it feels like he's just waiting for the perfect moment to strike ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

At the same time, I think it's worth acknowledging that there are some genuine concerns on both sides. The US has gotta take into account Russia's fears about NATO expansion, while Ukraine needs guarantees that its sovereignty won't be trampled on ๐Ÿค.

I'm also a bit worried about this talk taking place right after Putin's visit to India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ. It feels like he's trying to pivot away from the US and build some alliances elsewhere. The fact that the ECB is refusing to back Ukraine's loan request just adds to the sense of unease ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

Ultimately, I think it's going to be a tough nut to crack. Can these talks actually lead to a breakthrough, or are we just seeing more smoke and mirrors? ๐Ÿ”ฎ

so like russian and us are gonna sit down and talk about this ukraine thing... i mean its been going on for ages now ๐Ÿคฏ. i think its good that they're trying to end the war, but like russian demands seem pretty extreme to me ๐Ÿค”. cant they just negotiate without taking over whole regions? ๐ŸŒ. also, why did russia even invade ukraine in the first place? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ wasnt it all about energy and geopolitics?

anywayz, i think its interesting that the european central bank is rejecting to backstop loan for ukraine ๐Ÿค‘. that just means more suffering for the people there, you know? ๐Ÿค•. but like, both sides have valid points, im not taking sides here ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. its all about finding a balance and compromise ๐Ÿ’ก.

so yeah, lets hope these talks in moscow are productive and we can get some peace agreements soon ๐Ÿ”ฅ. but like, until then, people in ukraine are still suffering, so we gotta keep an eye on the situation ๐Ÿ‘€.

I'm kinda worried about these talks between Russia and the US ๐Ÿค”. I mean, we've seen what happened when they last talked, right? The Ukrainians are just trying to defend their country from Russian aggression, and Putin's still pushing for all this territory control stuff... it doesn't sit well with me. And with Ukraine struggling to get a โ‚ฌ163 billion loan from the ECB, it feels like no one's really helping them out ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I'm curious to see how these talks play out, though โ€“ maybe we'll finally get some peace in Eastern Europe? ๐Ÿ’ก
