Liverpool: Andy Robertson unlikely to join Tottenham during January transfer window

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson is unlikely to join Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, according to recent reports. The 31-year-old Scotland captain has been linked with a move away from Anfield for several months, with Spurs reportedly willing to pay £5m for his services.

However, it seems that Liverpool have decided not to sell Robertson, despite having considered an offer from Tottenham last week. According to sources, the club were unable to agree on the terms of the deal due to one major condition: the return of left-back Kostas Tsimikas from Roma, who is currently on loan at the Italian club.

Tottenham's interest in Robertson was reportedly triggered by concerns over their defensive options, particularly with left-back Sergio Reguilon struggling to establish himself as a regular starter. However, Liverpool have so far been unable to agree on the terms of a deal that would allow them to sell Robertson and bring Tsimikas back into the fold.

The decision not to sell Robertson is a significant blow to Spurs' transfer plans, with the club now having to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements. The loss of Robertson would be a major blow to Liverpool's title hopes, particularly if they are unable to replace him with an adequate left-back.

Robertson has been a key player for Liverpool since his arrival from Hull City in 2017, winning nine trophies including two Premier League titles and the Champions League. Despite struggling to establish himself as a regular starter under new manager Arne Slot, he remains a highly valued member of Jurgen Klopp's squad.

Spurs will now have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements, with several clubs reportedly interested in signing Robertson. However, it seems that Liverpool are committed to keeping him at the club, at least until the end of the season.

I'm like totally against selling Andy Robertson 🙅‍♂️, I mean who would wanna let go of a champ like him? He's been instrumental in Liverpool's success and has won so many trophies 🏆. But on the other hand, Tottenham needs a solid left-back and they're not getting any younger ⏰. Maybe it's better for them to just find someone else who can fill the void rather than trying to pry Robertson away from Liverpool? Idk, I'm all over the place on this one 🤯.

Ugh I'm actually really bummed about this 🤕... I mean can't Spurs just make their own left-backs instead of constantly searching for another one? 🙄 and what's up with Robertson having to come back from loan in order to stay at Liverpool? seems kinda unfair 🤑 like if he was a free agent or something. anyway gotta support my Reds, hope they hold out and keep him till the end of the season 💪

I'm surprised they wouldn't sell him lol 😂 I mean, he's getting on a bit and they've got a decent squad now. Not saying they need to get rid of him or anything but it's always good business for the club to get some cash in. I guess if Tsimikas is gonna come back though, that changes things 🤔. It's interesting that Spurs are looking at him as a solution to their left-back problem... maybe he'll just end up playing out of position or something 😂

Ugh, can't believe Spurs are struggling so much at left-back 😩. They really need a solid player like Robertson to shore up their defense. And now this just happens with Tottenham? Like, what's going on? 🤷‍♂️ Still, gotta respect Liverpool for not letting him go - he's been an integral part of the team since 2017. Would've loved to see him get some decent wages though 💸, but I guess it's better than being stuck in Rome on loan 🚫. Still looking forward to seeing how things play out, Spurs might have to go back to the market if they can't get their act together 📈

🤕 another transfer update and it's all bad news 🤕 so spurs are gonna have to keep searching for a left back and if they don't get one then their chances of winning the league just dropped like 10% 🔥 also, poor robertson is stuck in liverpool till the end of the season no idea how he'll feel about that 😔

🤔 I'm not surprised by this news 🙃. If Spurs wanted to sign Robertson that badly, they would've made it happen already 💸. Plus, considering how important Robertson is to Liverpool's title hopes, I think Klopp & co. are making a smart move 💡. Let's be real, Tsimikas isn't the same player as Robertson ⚽️. It'll be interesting to see who Spurs go after next 🤔
