Love City Brewing to Open Second Location in Manayunk's Former Fat Lady Brewing Space
Love City Brewing, the popular Callowhill-based brewery, is set to expand into a two-story space at 4323 Main St. in Manayunk this spring. The new location will feature a ground floor taproom with a full bar and merchandise station, as well as an upstairs loft for events.
The taproom, which will be open seven days a week, promises to bring Love City's signature drinks menu to the neighborhood, with options mirroring those found at their flagship location in Callowhill. Food options are still under wraps, but Melissa Walter, co-owner of Love City, says that events like bingo, quizzo, drag shows, and live music will be a big part of the new space.
Walter expressed her excitement about joining forces with long-time friends Fat Lady Brewing, which closed its doors in January after four years in business. "We were very conscious about choosing a neighborhood that has great energy and foot traffic, as well as one that would allow our current location at 1023 Hamilton St. to continue to be successful β Manayunk checks all those boxes for us," she said.
The new Love City location will build on the brewery's core values of community, laughter, and moments of joy. Walter praised Fat Lady Brewing as a "woman-owned, family-operated, deeply community-focused, and proudly queer-friendly" space, and hinted that some events previously hosted by the shuttered brewery would continue in Manayunk.
Love City's expansion into Manayunk comes as the neighborhood continues to experience growth and revitalization. While not all storefronts along Main Street are occupied, executive director Gwen Mccauley of the Manayunk Development Corporation notes that large spaces like Love City's new location can help fill some of the vacant retail spaces.
With Source Brewing set to reopen its renovated former bank building in late 2025, the Manayunk area is poised for continued growth and development.
