Majid Majidi’s ‘Children of Heaven’ Remake Among MD Pictures’ JAFF Market Slate

MD Pictures is gearing up for a blockbuster 2026, lining up an array of remakes and franchise installments that promise to captivate Indonesian audiences. At the heart of its slate is a highly anticipated remake of Majid Majidi's Oscar-nominated Iranian drama "Children of Heaven", which will be helmed by director Hanung Bramantyo. The young lead actors Jared Ali and Humaira Jahra are set to play the roles of siblings Ali and Zahra, respectively.

As part of its creative endeavour, MD Pictures has also announced the final chapter in its popular "Danur" horror franchise, titled "Danur the Last Chapter", directed by Awi Suryadi. The film's cast member Zee Asadel made a memorable appearance at the JAFF Market festival, interacting with fans.

Beyond Indonesia, MD Pictures is looking to expand its international reach, with an adaptation of the Korean horror remake "Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum" set for release under the title "Rumah Sakit Angker Korea". This film will be directed by Anggy Umbara and star a diverse cast featuring Arbani Yasiz, Elang El Gibran, Saputra Kori, and YouTuber Jang Hansol.

The company is also planning another entry in its successful "Danur Universe" franchise, with director Kimo Stamboel set to return behind the camera for "Ivanna 2". man, have you ever thought about how we're all just living in these fictional worlds created by others? like, "Children of Heaven" is already an Oscar-nominated film, but now it's getting a remake and it's gonna be remade again... what does that say about the human experience, right? 🤯 we're always trying to recreate something new, something better, but at what cost? are we just chasing this idea of perfection or are we scared of our own imperfections?

and on a bigger scale, MD Pictures is trying to bring these stories to more people, but what does that mean for our own experiences and emotions when we're exposed to someone else's narrative? do we start to feel like we're living in someone else's shoes? 🌐 it's like they say, "the truth is out there"... or maybe it's just a story we tell ourselves. anyway, I'm hyped about the new releases tho! 👍

omg u guys idk if i can even handle all these movie announcements 🤯! first of all "Children of Heaven" remake?? i've been waiting for this since like 2010 when it came out 🙌. and then they're doing a new chapter in "Danur" franchise? zee asadel is back on the scene btw 👀. but seriously, MD pictures is killing the game rn with all these horror remakes and franchise installments 🎃. i'm hyped for "Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum" adaptation and "Ivanna 2". can't wait to see more of this talented cast together 💖. international expansion sounds like a solid plan too, i've been saying that MD pics needs to go global for ages 🌎

So I think what excites me about this announcement from MD Pictures is that they're not just rehashing old ideas, but actually trying to expand into new markets and genres. The fact that they're adapting Korean horror remakes like "Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum" for a global audience shows they're willing to take risks and tap into different cultural landscapes. I'm also curious to see how their take on Majid Majidi's Oscar-nominated drama "Children of Heaven" will be received, especially with young lead actors Jared Ali and Humaira Jahra on board 🤔💡

I just got back from the most amazing road trip with my friends 🚗😎 we went to this crazy beautiful beach and had an epic game of frisbee on the shore 🏖️🎾 it's days like that I realize how much I love Indonesia's laid-back vibes 😌 anyway, I was reading about MD Pictures' new projects and I'm kinda curious about "Children of Heaven"... have you guys seen the original? 🤔

OMG u guys! So I'm super stoked 4 MD Pictures' new remakes & franchise installments 🤩! But can we talk about how they're gonna make "Children of Heaven" accessible 2 a broader audience? Like, I know it's an Oscar-nominated film, but some of my friends from the arts club r like it bcos it tackles real issues related to poverty & inequality. Anywayz, I'm all for more Indonesian content getting international love 🌟! And can't w8 4 "Danur the Last Chapter" 😱👻... those Danur fans r gonna freak out!

I gotta say, I love how MD Pictures is trying to tap into different cultures & genres to captivate their audience 🌎🎥. It's a great reminder that our diverse roots are what make us strong 💪! By bringing in international remakes & adaptations, they're showing us that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to entertainment 🤯. And hey, it's awesome that they're not afraid to experiment with different themes & tones – after all, life is full of unexpected twists and turns 😊. I think we can learn a lot from MD Pictures' willingness to take risks & push boundaries 🎉!
