Bronx Man Surrenders in Taxi Driver Stabbing Case: Charges Filed Against Suspect
A 56-year-old Bronx resident, Darin Dominick, has surrendered to the NYPD after repeatedly stabbing a taxi driver, Osei Kusi, in an incident that left the cabby severely injured. According to authorities, Dominick turned himself in to the 43rd Precinct on Wednesday morning, just over two weeks after the alleged attack.
The crime occurred on November 26 at a red light near Randall Avenue and White Plains Road in Clason Point. Kusi, a Bronx man who immigrated from Ghana eight years ago, was driving his taxi when Dominick allegedly approached him with a baseball bat. The driver tried to de-escalate the situation by pleading for peace, but Dominick continued to assault him, striking Kusi multiple times with an unknown sharp object.
The victim suffered severe injuries, including multiple puncture wounds that required stitches and staples, and spent several days in the hospital, falling in and out of consciousness. His family has been visiting him every day since the incident, according to the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers.
Dominick has been charged with attempted murder, as well as assault, harassment, and weapons offenses related to the incident. His attorney claims that Dominick denies any wrongdoing, but the evidence against him is based on video surveillance footage and witness accounts.
The taxi federation said it had secured compensation for Kusi through a workers benefit fund and praised the work of police in bringing the investigation to a turning point before Dominick surrendered. With his arrest, the city may finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief that this senseless attack has been brought to justice. However, the organization will continue to push for full accountability to prevent such incidents from happening again.

just another crazy day in NYC... how's it even possible for someone to stab a taxi driver like that?! 
Osei Kusi is lucky to be alive, and I hope he makes a speedy recovery 
. But seriously, what's going on with people's tempers these days? Can't we all just get along? 
I'm glad the police were able to catch Dominick so quickly and the taxi federation is pushing for more accountability... we gotta do better as a community

and what about Kusi, the victim? he was just tryin' to do his job, take people where they need to go, and this happens to him... it's like, what kind of world are we livin' in if someone can just assault another person for no reason at all? 
I'm thinking about the guy who stabbed the taxi driver and it's just crazy how he thought he could get away with it.

The video surveillance footage must have been super helpful in catching the guy, I mean, who tries to fight a taxi driver?

... 56 years old is way too young for someone to be going through this 
. The fact that he just surrendered after two weeks, but still left the taxi driver with severe injuries 
People think they can just approach someone and start stabbing them because of some random anger or whatever 
... at least they'll be able to focus on their loved one getting better instead of worrying about how they're gonna pay for everything 
. And can we talk about how the taxi federation is looking out for Kusi? They're securing compensation and supporting him through this tough time, that's really admirable 
. We need to focus on prevention and support rather than just harsh punishment all the time 
The fact that he was armed with a baseball bat and still thought a stick or whatever was gonna be enough to take down a grown man is just crazy. And the victim had to spend days in the hospital too... poor guy's family must've been going through hell visiting him every day like that 
. But what really gets me is the system, man... how could this happen in the first place? I mean, we gotta work towards preventing these senseless attacks so people can feel safe on the streets again 
. And yeah, it's good that the taxi federation got him some compensation, but that's not gonna bring back the trauma and pain he went through
