Man accused of swallowing $19,000 pendant inspired by Bond movie as New Zealand police wait for nature to take its course

A New Zealand Man's Bizarre Attempt to Smuggle a Pendant Worth $19,000 by Swallowing It Has Left Authorities Scratching Their Heads. The 32-year-old suspect allegedly swallowed the Fabergé octopus pendant, valued at $33,585, during a jewelry store robbery in Auckland on November 28.

The man's bold move has left police officials perplexed, and they are now waiting for nature to take its course as they monitor his health. "Given this man is in Police custody, we have a duty of care to continue monitoring him given the circumstances of what has occurred," Inspector Grae Anderson said.

Anderson added that the suspect will appear in court again on December 8. The Fabergé octopus pendant, which took inspiration from the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy, is an ornate piece crafted from gold and encrusted with diamonds and sapphires.

Meanwhile, another historic Fabergé egg has shattered records at a London auction house, selling for $30.2 million. The Winter Egg, made from finely carved rock crystal and covered in platinum and 4,500 tiny diamonds, is one of the opulent ovoids remaining in private hands.

The rare egg was commissioned by Czar Alexander III as an Easter present for his wife and features a removable basket of bejeweled quartz flowers symbolizing spring. This sale has set a new world auction record for a Fabergé item, reaffirming the enduring significance of this masterpiece.

It's unclear what will happen next with the New Zealand suspect or if another "octopus surprise" is forthcoming. Time and digestion will tell as authorities continue to monitor his health.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this bloke who swallowed a 33k pendant 🤯😂. I mean, what's next? Eating a car or something? 🚗 It's just crazy. And poor guy, he must be feeling pretty crummy right now with that Fabergé octopus stuck in his stomach 🤢. Can you imagine having to go through all those tests and whatnot just to figure out if it's still in there? Talk about a crappy situation 😷. The fact that the police are keeping an eye on him is good, but I'm just curious to see how this whole thing plays out 💡. Will he ever be able to eat again? 🍴 And will we ever get to see the pendant again? 🤔

omg 🤯 can you even believe this dude swallowed a 19k pendent 🤑 like, what was he thinkin? 😂 i'm both impressed & terrified at the same time 🤪 anyway, that fabergé octopus pendant is straight fire 🔥 and i need it in my life! 💎 have u seen the winter egg auction record? $30.2 million is wild 💸 like, someone must be livin' their best life with a budget like that 😂 anywayz, back to our man... 🤔 fingers crossed he makes it out alive & not too hungry soon 🍴

Man, can you believe this guy swallowed a $19k pendant? It's like he really wanted to take the phrase 'taking it to the next level' literally 😂. Seriously though, I'm not buying that he didn't know what he was doing. You gotta think about the bigger picture here - is this guy trying to make some kind of statement about freedom or something? And what about the authorities? They're waiting for nature to take its course? That's just a bunch of bureaucratic nonsense. What they should be worried about is how this whole ordeal reflects on our justice system and whether we're doing enough to support our citizens who are struggling with mental health issues.

ugh just when you think people cant get any dumber... 32yo man swallows $33,585 worth of pendant thinking he can escape punishment? newsflash mate: swallowing a fancy jewelry piece = bad idea 🤦‍♂️

and on the bright side i guess we got to hear about another faberge egg selling for 30 mill million. at least those eggs r made of something that wont hurt someone 😂

This guy is like a crazy cat in a bathtub! Swallowing that pendant was never gonna end well, but I mean, $19k worth of jewelry in the stomach? That's some next-level desperation! 🤯♂️ Either way, gotta give it to him for originality. Who tries to pull off something like that and then just waits for nature to do its thing? Sounds like a real-life game of "Survival of the Fittest"... minus the fitness part 😂. Guess we'll be hearing more about this guy's... digestive issues in the coming days 🤢.

I mean, can you imagine swallowing something like that? 🤯 It's just insane! And now they're literally waiting for nature to take its course? Like, aren't they worried about the guy dying or something? 😂 The pendant is worth $33k+ and he swallowed it during a robbery... talk about being reckless. I guess you could say he really wanted that Fabergé octopus pendant bad enough. 🤪 It's just crazy how some people will do things for the sake of cash. The police are all like "we have a duty of care" but what about the guy's stomach? 😂

OMG, can you even imagine swallowing a $33,585 pendant? 🤯 I mean, I know he might've been trying to be sneaky, but seriously, what's next? Eating a whole safe or something? 😂 This is literally the most epic attempt at smuggling I've ever heard of. The police are just stuck in the waiting game now, hoping his stomach doesn't have any funny surprises for them 🤪. And on the flip side, that Fabergé egg sold for $30.2 million... my jaw is still on the floor! 💎

😂 This guy's got some serious guts (or is it just desperation? 🤔) trying to smuggle a $19,000 pendant by swallowing it. Can you imagine the looks on the faces of the jewelry store staff when he made his move? 😂 I guess that's one way to get a close-up view of the Fabergé octopus... unfortunately for him, it's not exactly a smooth sailing experience 🤢.

On a more serious note, the fact that this pendant is valued at $33,585 and was stolen from a jewelry store in Auckland shows just how much people are willing to risk to get their hands on rare and valuable items. The Fabergé egg sale is also crazy - who knew something made of platinum and diamonds would sell for over $30 million? 💎 It's definitely a sign that some art pieces hold more value than we think... now if only the authorities could figure out what to do with this guy 😂

omg, can you even imagine swallowing a pendant worth that much money? i mean, yeah, it's crazy but also kinda amazing that he tried such a bold move . like, what was going through his mind? did he really think the cops wouldn't catch on?

anywayz, on a more positive note, that Fabergé egg sold for $30.2 million is straight fire 🤑🔥! i'm lovin' how history and art are still makin' headlines, remindin' us of the beauty & significance of these masterpieces.

and can we talk about how this whole thing is keepin' people entertained? like, who else has ever heard of someone swallowing a pendant worth millions? it's a wild story, for sure! 🤣

this guy swallowing that pendant is like something out of a movie lol 🤣, i mean who tries to smuggle that kinda value by eating it? and now they're just waiting for nature to take its course? 🌿👀 sounds like some bad sitcom plot to me, poor guy's gotta go through the wringer now 😷. on a related note tho, have you seen those faberge eggs? 🤯 i mean, 30 mil for that winter egg is INSANE 💸, and that octopussy pendant is straight fire 🔥

omg lol this guy trying to swallow a $33k pendant is like something outta a movie 💸🤣 i mean, who tries that? like, what's next, swallowing a car or something? 🚗😂 the police are literally waiting for nature to take its course, which is pretty funny considering it could be months before he digests it properly 👀

and can we talk about how amazing Fabergé eggs are?! the winter egg sold for $30m is insane 💸👑 i've seen some expensive stuff in my time, but that's just on another level 🔥 those little diamonds and platinum are insane 💎

anywayz, i'm low-key rooting for this guy to, like, pass out or something so he can stop the drama 🤦‍♂️ but at the same time, i'm kinda curious if he'll actually make it through this whole ordeal 🤔 what's next? is there another "octopus surprise" waiting in the wings? 🎉👀

I mean, can you imagine swallowing a pendant worth like 33 grand? That's like eating a $100 burger... and getting food poisoning from it! 😂🤯 I guess that's one way to get a free vacation in the hospital, though! 🚑💉 The authorities are just waiting for Mother Nature to do her thing. Like, "Hey, digestion, can you please make sure this guy doesn't have any, ahem, 'gut feelings' about not getting better soon?" 😂🤣 Poor dude's gonna be singing 'Octopussy' all the way through his digestive system! 🎶👀

🤔 This guy must've been really desperate for cash 🤑 I mean, swallowing a $33k pendant? That's just crazy talk 💁‍♂️ I feel bad for the police, though - they gotta deal with this situation and figure out what to do next 😬. On a lighter note, have you seen that Winter Egg Fabergé egg? 🌸 $30 million is wild 💸 And can we talk about how weird it is to swallow something like that? I guess only time will tell if the New Zealand guy's plan pays off... or not 😂

I don’t usually comment but I feel kinda bad for this guy, ya know? Like he just really wanted that pendant and wasn't thinking it through 🤦‍♂️. Swallowing something that valuable is crazy talk! 😂 I mean, what's next? Eating a diamond-encrusted Rolex or something? 💎🕰️

It's weird how some people get desperate and try to take risks that sound like they're straight out of a bad action movie 🤣. The police are right to be monitoring him, but it's gonna be a long time before he's back on his feet, literally 😷.

This Fabergé egg sale is pretty wild too, especially with the price tag 🤑. I mean, who can afford that kind of cash? It's like buying a new house or something 🏠👀
