Tragedy Strikes McKinley Park: Fatal Shooting Leaves Community in Shock
In a devastating turn of events, a 64-year-old man, identified as Nicholas Demitro, lost his life after being shot in the chest in McKinley Park on Sunday. Police responded to an emergency call at approximately 4:25 p.m. to find Demitro unresponsive in the 1900 block of West 34th Place.
Upon arrival, officers took Demitro to Stroger Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition. Unfortunately, his condition rapidly deteriorated, and he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, and detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. As of now, no one has been taken into custody.

i mean whats going on in chicago lately? it feels like somethin is wrong and nobody knows how to fix it. 64 is way too young to go out like that... my heart goes out to nickys family & friends... cant even imagine what theyre goin thru right now
McKinley Park used to be such a chill spot for a walk or picnic, and now it's just... sad 
. I wish they'd sort this out ASAP... someone needs to take responsibility for their actions

McKinley Park is supposed to be a safe place for everyone, not a spot where you get hurt 
praying for Demitro's family to get some peace of mind 
and it's really heartbreaking. 64 years old, can't even imagine what would have been his story if he was still here.
the police are doing their thing, but I hope they can catch whoever did this soon and bring them to justice

maybe we can look into alternative dispute resolution methods or get more counseling services out there
