Tragedy Strikes McKinley Park: Fatal Shooting Leaves Community in Shock
In a devastating turn of events, a 64-year-old man, identified as Nicholas Demitro, lost his life after being shot in the chest in McKinley Park on Sunday. Police responded to an emergency call at approximately 4:25 p.m. to find Demitro unresponsive in the 1900 block of West 34th Place.
Upon arrival, officers took Demitro to Stroger Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition. Unfortunately, his condition rapidly deteriorated, and he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, and detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. As of now, no one has been taken into custody.
