St. Thomas Men's Basketball Notches 3-0 Record with Thrilling 82-71 Win Over Oral Roberts
The St. Thomas men's basketball team cemented its status as one of the Summit Conference's top contenders with a hard-fought 82-71 victory over Oral Roberts at the Mabee Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday evening. The Tommies improved to 3-0 in conference play, while the Golden Eagles fell to 2-1.
In a back-and-forth contest, St. Thomas took an early lead and maintained it through the halftime break, trailing by only three points at 43-40. However, the Tommies exploded for a 10-2 run over the final five minutes of the second half, opening up a double-digit lead that ultimately sealed the win.
Nick Janowski led all scorers with 23 points and also posted a game-high 12 rebounds, while Connor Dow chipped in 23 points as well. Isaiah Johnson-Arigu provided a boost off the bench with 17 points, and Carter Bjerke and Ben Oosterbaan added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Tommies' victory keeps them unbeaten in conference play, alongside North Dakota State, who also remains undefeated against Summit teams after topping Omaha on Saturday afternoon. St. Thomas travels to Fargo next Saturday to face the Bison at 1 p.m., before heading to Grand Forks to take on North Dakota on Thursday night.
Before that, the Tommies return home to their Lee & Penny Anderson Arena for a matchup with South Dakota State on January 22nd.
