Mets Insider: Dodgers Are ‘Favorite’ For Edwin Diaz With Reunion Unlikely

I gotta say, this whole situation with Edwin Diaz and the Mets is super interesting 🤔💼. I mean, Stearns is trying to break the mold here and invest in relief pitchers, which is definitely a bold move. But at the same time, it's hard to see how they can compete with the Dodgers' massive budget 💸🚀. The Dodgers just seem like they're gonna do whatever it takes to upgrade their bullpen, you know? And Diaz is one of the best ones out there right now 🎯.

I'm a bit surprised that the Mets didn't try to match or exceed the Dodgers' offer, but I guess Stearns is trying to focus on getting value for his team rather than just throwing money at it 💸. Either way, I think Diaz is gonna end up in Dodger blue, and it's hard to blame him for that – the Dodgers are like the Yankees of LA, you know? 😉

🤔 I don't think the Mets should bother trying to re-sign Diaz at all! They're just gonna end up losing out on a huge chunk of change and look like they didn't even try. I mean, if David Stearns wants to break from tradition and invest in relief pitchers, that's his thing, but it doesn't mean the team has to go all in every time. Maybe they should focus on building a solid starting rotation or something instead? And honestly, the Dodgers are probably not as committed to signing Diaz as everyone thinks... I heard they're still looking for someone to fill out their rotation! 🤷‍♂️
