Minneapolis ICE shooting: Tensions flare after ICE officer kills woman

Protesters in Minneapolis took to the streets Thursday evening in response to the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer earlier that day. Hundreds of people gathered in freezing rain, chanting "ICE out now" and holding signs that read "killer ice off our streets."

The ICE officer who shot and killed Good has been identified as Jonathan Ross, a veteran agent with over 10 years of experience. According to federal court records, Ross was injured in June while attempting to arrest a suspect. He suffered severe injuries, including 33 stitches.

Good's death is the latest in a string of tragedies tied to immigration enforcement operations under President Donald Trump. Her killing has sparked outrage across the country, with protesters demanding answers about the actions of ICE officers and questioning the justification for such operations.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claims that Ross acted according to his training and that Good attempted to ram him with her vehicle. However, video footage shows a different sequence of events, with Good trying to drive away and Ross firing multiple shots at close range.

As tensions escalate, state and local officials are calling for an independent investigation into the shooting. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has stated that it will not work with federal authorities on the investigation, citing concerns about jurisdiction and impartiality.

Governor Tim Walz has publicly expressed his opposition to the DHS's handling of the situation, stating that the state would be unable to accept an investigation that excludes its participation. Vice President JD Vance has defended Ross's actions, calling Good a "victim of left-wing ideology."

Protesters in Minneapolis have vowed to continue their demonstrations until answers are provided about the circumstances surrounding Good's death and the broader implications of immigration enforcement operations.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the use of force by law enforcement agencies in response to immigration-related incidents. As protests spread across the country, it remains to be seen how the Trump administration will respond to these growing demands for accountability and transparency.

The shooting serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by immigrants and the communities they inhabit when faced with aggressive immigration enforcement tactics. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, prompting calls for an end to such operations and a renewed focus on comprehensive immigration reform that prioritizes human rights and dignity.

As the investigation into Good's death continues, protesters in Minneapolis will remain vigilant, pushing for answers and accountability from those in power.

"It takes a very great man to die for his country." But can we say that dying at the hands of a law enforcement officer is truly a noble sacrifice? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ The system seems broken and it's time for change. We need to hold those in power accountable for their actions. ๐Ÿ’ช

omg i cant even believe what happened to this girl Renee Nicole Good she was just trying to protect herself and her kids from an ice officer who was basically a psychopath ๐Ÿคฏ i mean 33 stitches from an accident and now hes the one who killed her its so not fair. i feel for her fam they must be going through hell rn

can we talk about something else tho like what's up with ice officers theyre supposed to be enforcing laws but theyve been acting like vigilantes lately ๐Ÿค” whats the deal with that? and why do they get away with this stuff so easily?

anyway i guess were seeing more protests now and its all over the news i hope they keep pushing for answers because thats what we need right now. but at the same time im worried about how it might escalate things

I donโ€™t usually comment but this is just so bloody unfair ๐Ÿค•. Renee Nicole Good was just a mum trying to protect her kids, and she gets gunned down by an ICE agent who's supposed to be serving justice. I mean, what kind of training allows someone to shoot someone in the face at point-blank range? And now we're hearing that this dude had severe injuries from a previous arrest, so maybe he wasn't as tough as everyone thinks ๐Ÿค”. The whole thing just feels like a recipe for disaster and it's getting worse by the day. We need some serious answers here and I don't want to see any more innocent lives lost ๐Ÿ’”.

๐Ÿšจ ICE is getting a bad rep right now ๐Ÿšจ. I mean, can you blame people for being upset? The video footage of that shooting doesn't lie - it looks super suspicious. I'm all about holding our law enforcement accountable for their actions, but come on, 33 stitches and they're still saying it was justified? That's some crazy stuff. It's no wonder people are marching in the streets, demanding answers and change.

And honestly, who needs more tragedy like this? Renee Nicole Good was just a mom trying to live her life, and she ended up losing her life because of a job she wasn't even doing. It's heartbreaking. The fact that Vice President Vance is defending ICE's actions is wild - it's like they're in denial or something.

I'm all for immigration reform, but this goes way beyond just policy changes. We need to talk about the systemic issues that lead to these kinds of incidents in the first place. This is a wake-up call for our country, and I hope we're listening. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

come on guys, what is the point of all this chaos ๐Ÿคฏ? we're just going to keep protesting until someone does something about it, right? like, what exactly do you want them to do? give up on immigration enforcement altogether? that's not how the system works. but at the same time, i get why people are so upset - it feels like they're being profiled and targeted for no reason. and yeah, ICE is just as bad as it sounds ๐Ÿค. this whole thing needs to be looked into from all sides before we can even start talking about solutions.

๐Ÿค• man... can u believe this is still happening? like, we're supposed to be livin' in 2025 and yet ppl are still gettin' killed by ICE agents? ๐Ÿšจ it's just so senseless. Renee Nicole Good was just a mom tryin' to make ends meet, and then BAM! she's shot and killed by some dude with a badge.

and yeah, the whole thing is super suspicious... the video footage shows one thing, but the DHS is sayin' it's all good... no accountability for this guy? ๐Ÿ™„ governor Tim Walz is doin' the right thing by callin' for an independent investigation, though. we need to get to the bottom of this.

it's just crazy how politicized everything is now... JD Vance defendin' Ross's actions like he's some kinda hero? ๐Ÿคช come on, man... we know better than that. the protesters in Minneapolis are right to be upset and demand answers. we can't just sit back and do nothin' when ppl are gettin' hurt like this.

anyway... just another day in the United States of America... where ICE agents think they're above the law ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’ฅ

idk why ppl thinkICE is doing good 4 society its all about profiteering off ppl lives dont 4get renรฉe nicole good wasnt some criminal she had a life to live like we do ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿ’”

"The cost of freedom is always equal to the sacrifice." ๐Ÿ’” It's heartbreaking to see the loss of Renee Nicole Good's life under tragic circumstances, and her family deserves justice and truth about what happened. The fact that her kids are left without a mother should be a wake-up call for our nation to reevaluate its immigration policies ๐Ÿค•. We need more empathy and compassion in our laws, not less ๐Ÿ’ช.

this is just heartbreaking what happened to renee good she was just trying to get home to her kids after a long day of work and this guy ice agent comes out of nowhere and shoots her like that it's just not right ๐Ÿคฌ the fact that he's a veteran with 10 years of experience and still manages to make a mistake like that is just crazy. and the department of homeland security is trying to cover it up by saying she tried to ram him which is clearly not true there's video footage of everything and it looks like they're just making excuses for this guy. we need an independent investigation into this ASAP so we can get some real answers about what happened

omg i cant believe whats happening in minneapolis ๐Ÿคฏ they need to get to the bottom of this ice officer shooting renรฉe was a mom of 3 and her life is literally cut short ๐Ÿ’” its not just about one person tho it's about all the people who are living in fear because of these immigration enforcement operations it makes me so angry ๐Ÿ˜ก i wish people would stand up more for their rights and demand change ๐Ÿค we need comprehensive immigration reform that prioritizes human rights and dignity, not just keeping our borders locked down ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿ˜” my heart is breaking thinking about Renee Nicole Good and her 3 kids... what a senseless tragedy ๐Ÿค• how could this happen to such an innocent woman just trying to protect her family? ๐Ÿ˜ญ the thought of that ICE officer shooting her without being provoked is unbearable... it's like they're taking away our humanity and treating us like statistics or targets ๐Ÿšซ and now we're left with so many questions unanswered ๐Ÿค” who was supposed to be protecting Renee, not harming her? the system is broken and needs serious change ๐Ÿ”„๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

this is just getting crazy ICE officers are supposed to protect people not harm them it's like they think they're above the law or something i don't know about this guy Ross but if he really thought Good was a threat he should've just called for backup instead of shooting her cold no matter what you say Good did try to run him down but that doesn't mean she meant to kill him and now people are dead and it's all because of politics ๐Ÿคฌ

man thats so crazy...ice officer just shoots some innocent woman and her kidz and nobody gets held accountable ๐Ÿคฏ meanwhile trump is still out here supporting these corrupt agents who are just using their power to harm people ๐Ÿ’” the fact that they're trying to cover it up by saying she was trying to ram him with her car doesnt add up...the video footage says otherwise ๐Ÿ“น its just another example of how messed up our immigration system is and how we need to prioritize human rights over politics ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

๐Ÿค• this is so messed up ๐Ÿšซ the fact that someone gets killed by ICE agent and we're still debating whether it was justified or not is just insane ๐Ÿ˜ฉ and what really gets me is how some politicians are trying to downplay it and shift the blame on Renee's character ๐Ÿ™„ like "she was a victim of left-wing ideology" ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ no way, Jose! that's not a thing and even if we were to assume she was somehow involved, her life still got taken away ๐Ÿ’€ and the fact that we're more concerned about jurisdiction than actual justice is just wrong ๐Ÿ˜”
