MLS salaries: Son Heung-min deal pays $11m, second only to Lionel Messi

I don’t usually comment but... Son Heung-min’s deal is insane 💸👀 I mean, $11.2 million total compensation package is a lot to handle, but the dude's skills on the field are worth it 🤩. I love how LAFC is building its squad with talented players from around the world ⚽️. But what really got me thinking is that Messi is still making more take-home pay than Son, and that's kinda crazy 💸💁‍♂️. Still, Congrats to Son for breaking records and showing the MLS he means business 🎉!

I'm not surprised to see Son Heung-min break the bank with his LAFC deal 🤑. But let's keep things in perspective – $11.2 million ain't nothing for a player of his caliber. Still, it's wild to think that Messi is raking it in at $12 million per year... and that 80k difference between Son and him is no joke 💸. I'm glad to see LAFC making some big moves this summer though – they're definitely looking like a team to beat in the MLS 🏆. It'll be interesting to see how Son performs under new management 👀

I mean, think about it... 11.2 million is a pretty sweet deal, but $0.8 million less than Messi's take-home pay? That just highlights the pay gap between American leagues and European leagues. It's like, why can't MLS teams keep up with the big boys in terms of compensation?

And have you seen LAFC's roster now? It's like a who's who of international talent. You gotta wonder, is this just another case of foreign players being more valuable than homegrown players? I mean, Son Heung-min has been doing great for both his team and the national team, but does that necessarily warrant this kind of pay?

It's also interesting to note that Messi's deal includes marketing bonuses and agent fees. That's a whole different ball game. Are MLS teams just not willing to compete on that level?
