My family's excitement about Outer Worlds 2 was short-lived | Dominik Diamond

The Diamond family was bracing themselves for excitement when the long-awaited sequel to their beloved Outer Worlds finally dropped. The original had already won them over with its stunning art style, witty banter, and engaging mystery-solving adventure. However, as it turned out, the latest installment didn't quite live up to expectations.

Dominik's wife was an exception - she hadn't played the first game because none of its planets featured Crash Bandicoot, but her family couldn't help but dive into the sequel. Dominik's son, however, had other ideas. As soon as he finished playing it, he bluntly told his dad that he'd hate it - and boy, was he right.

For 20 hours of playtime, Dominik struggled to make headway through the game's tedious faction politics and clunky dialogue, eventually throwing in the towel on the third planet. His son couldn't help but gloat about his prediction, pointing out how much time Dominik had spent cursing at the screen during gameplay.

The reason behind The Outer Worlds 2's underwhelming experience was clear: it lacked a genuine story with heart and soul. The game seemed to have phoned in its narrative, resulting in unengaging characters and a convoluted world that felt like a chore to explore.

In contrast to games like The Witcher 3 or Skyrim, which had richly detailed worlds and compelling narratives, The Outer Worlds 2 fell flat. Dominik's experience was a stark reminder of the importance of storytelling in role-playing games - if done poorly, it can be a major turn-off for players.

Despite the disappointment with The Outer Worlds 2, Dominik came away from his gaming experience with something more valuable than any amount of praise or awards: a deeper understanding and appreciation of what makes RPGs special. For him, these games represent a beacon of hope in an increasingly uncertain world - a chance to level up and prove oneself, without the need for billionaire backing.

In the end, Dominik's gaming experience became less about The Outer Worlds 2 itself and more about the fascinating conversation he had with his son about what makes RPGs tick. It was a reminder that games have the power not only to entertain but also to bring people together and spark meaningful connections.

idk wut r u talkin bout 🤔 lol i mean i loved outer worlds 1, but 2 is like playin the same game all over again with less cool stuff 😴 dominik's son was right tho, it's like they took every bad gaming cliche and mashed 'em all together into one big mess 🚮. games need story, people! not just some shallow faction politics and clunky dialogue that makes u wanna pull ur hair out 🤯

I don't think The Outer Worlds 2's poor reception is all on Obsidian, it sounds like the game just didn't live up to expectations for some players 🤔👎 I mean, Dominik spent 20 hours trying to get into it but couldn't make headway with the faction politics and clunky dialogue? That's a pretty steep investment of time if you ask me. On the other hand, his son's prediction didn't seem entirely off base 😂. Maybe Obsidian could've done more to make the narrative shine? But at the same time, it's not like The Outer Worlds 2 was a complete failure - some people still had fun playing it 🎮👍

🤔 I mean, can we really expect gaming companies to deliver on their promises without, like, soul or anything? 🤑 It's almost as if they're more focused on raking in the gold coins than creating something truly special. But you know what? I think Dominik's experience is actually kinda refreshing? Like, he found a way to enjoy the game despite its shortcomings, and that's all that matters, right? 💸 The conversation with his son about RPGs being like a beacon of hope in an uncertain world... that's where it's at. Not about some fancy story or graphics, but about connection and community. That's what games should be about, if you ask me. 🤝

omg i feel u dominik😩 game devs need to step up their story game 2k20 was a letdown 4 me too 🤦‍♂️ i mean what happened 2 the dialogue?? it's like they didn't even bother 2 write it properly 😔 and faction politics? more like faction bore-ics lolol anyways dominik u r a good sport 4 playing thru 2 whole planets and still tryin 2 make progress lolol love how u and ur son bondd over dis tho 🤝 espeshally since crash bandicoot is a must in any outer worlds game pls devs listen up!!!

🤦‍♂️ Ugh, another game that disappoints 🚫 Outer Worlds 2 is like the universe's way of telling us we're stuck in some kinda gaming rut 💔. I mean, what's up with these devs? Can't they just put a good story together? The lackluster narrative really takes away from the whole experience... 😒

And don't even get me started on the clunky dialogue 📝. I swear, it sounds like someone barfed up a bunch of random words and hoped for the best 🤢. The only good thing is that Dominik had a heart-to-heart with his son about what makes RPGs special... now that's something we can all get behind 💕.

You know what's even worse? These games are just going to keep getting more and more expensive, so who's really benefiting here? 🤑 Not the gamers, that's for sure 👎. Time to level up our expectations (but not our wallets) 🤯!
